Not great
Arrived with one of the handles detached. It had buckled/bent out of place and doesn't stay on. Generally works ok, but I've noticed it doesn't let the fire breath too well. Over long cooks this results in the ash clogging up the holes and suffocating the fire. It's also started to warp, so it no longer sits flat on the grate. To be honest I expect a lot better for the UK price I paid. I wouldn't recommend this.

This basket is very thick and sturdy. It is intended for the pk grill but I use it in my offset smoker and kettle as well. In the kettle I pair it with Grill Grates and the first pic is the charcoal ready to go, the second is after I grilled our meal and shut down the vents. I can make the charcoal last a lot longer with this setup. Very good basket worth the price no matter what grill you have.

As someone else mentioned I didn’t buy my PK Original with value in mine. The basket is heavy duty, fits nice and will likely last a long time. But made in China? I tried to buy a basket that costs only a few more dollars from an American manufacturer but he was on back order for several weeks and like an idiot, I needed the basket sooner for a trip which I was taking my PK on. Like I said, the basket is well built, fits nicely, has a nice finish and will likely last a long time. But it is a bit expensive for a chinese product. Find an American manufacturer for accessories like this.

Hate to have anything bad to say about PK, but this charcoal basket needs to be take. Back to the drawing board. Stifles airflow limiting combustion making it hard to reach higher temps and snuffs the coals at lower temps. Sorry PK, love my PK360 and PKTX though!!

Update 2: I'm in my second season with this basket and I have a more nuanced opinion. If you are using large briquettes (ex. Jealous Devil XL) the basket works as advertised. When using smaller briquettes (ex. Acme Store Band, Cowboy, Trader Joes Hardwood, Etc.) or lump the ash tends to pile up and cause heat spikes unless you manually rake the coals. In a really long cook, the ash will build up to the point where I've had to switch from restricting airflow via the bottom vent to the exhaust vent on the top mid-cook which is less than Ideal. So If you are going for low-and-slow long cooking: spend your money on better fuel now to avoid headaches later. Update: I'm 3 Cooks in and the flashing has burnt off as I predicted and this has proven its utility with its first low and slow cook. It also makes cleaning significantly easier as predicted. If you are going to cook low and slow on the PK I'd seriously purchasing this or an equivalent. I purchased this along with my PK grill because I want to do a lot of indirect cooking and I’ve heard that this product makes cleanup easier. I’ve also been told that a basket will add to the grill’s longevity as the main point of failure in PK’s are from burnout due to hot coals resting against the sides of the grill. The steel is either powder coated or anodized 1/8 inch steel plate. Not stainless. Not cast Iron. Steel Plate. Sturdiness wise, you could run over this with a Toyota Camry and the Camry would be worse for wear. Even if you abuse this basket and never clean it, it has enough mass to last a good long while. My only complaint that I can hold against it is that the finish on the ports was rough enough to give me a scratch taking it out of the box. I’ll heal and the flashing will burn off eventually but I can’t give 5 stars for that. FYI. While I’m a little disappointed that this piece wasn’t made in the USA, particularly for the almost $40 price point, I can’t hold it against them.
