Update: if I could give 10 stars I would. Only had this 2 weeks and used it to grab and dispatch a copperhead that was engaging with my dogs. It’s very sturdy, easier to use and love the feature to lock the jaw once snake is caught. ******This grabber is a little pricier than others but it arrives ready to use and perfectly functional. I also bought a cheap version so I could have these at different locations on my farm. The cheap one required assembly and cable adjustment so I'll be returning it and ordering a 2nd one of these. In a moment of snake (copperhead) wrangling I want a tool that works with no adjustment required!

We live where there are all kinds of snakes . This catcher does the job and is long enough to keep me from getting bit . Great quality and I trust it every time I use it . Highly recommend .

Ordered this based on other reviews for use as grabber for branches, yard trash, etc. This think works GREAT! Highly recommend for picking up small branches provided they are not real heavy. Lightweight but sturdy construction and the 5' length gives you leverage to handle heavier loads than smaller grabbers might. Probably works great for grabbing snakes as well, but hopefully I won't have to test out that ability.

Sturdy, grabs very well, the lock is a bit difficult to on/off but does stay in place. #1 this is a long stick, and the longer the stick is the more difficult it is to maneuver and control. This one is ideal for situations like mine where I have to reach under cars or up into cabinets to pull snakes for the neighbors. #2 add a small wrap of grip tape to the handle and a couple inches down the shaft. This helps a lot with control and keeps it from sliding around, and add a small stripe of bright paint, like nail polish, to make it easy to see the grabber claws in low light.

Haven’t had any snakes lately to catch with them however I’ve been using this to pick up cactus without getting thorns in my body parts. Works great well-made should last a lifetime.

I've had this for 3.5 years now. We live in Phoenix, a block from one of the indian reservations. We get several rattlesnakes a year that manage to penetrate our backyard defenses. Just this last Saturday the dogs found a 2-foot rattler curled up in a agave plant. This has been a very reliable tool for handling diamondbacks. Obviously, you want to know you have a secure hold on them when moving a rattlesnake. I like this length, which keeps me a comfortable distance. The jaws are big enough for a full-sized adult Diamondback, yet close down quite nicely for the smaller ones which is what we usually get into the yard. Photo is from snake training the dogs, so the rattler has a muzzle.

After I bought this I was thinking maybe I would never use it and I wasted my money. I have only had this for a couple of weeks and have already used it. The dogs found a baby rattler in the yard yesterday. I got the dogs in the house, grabbed this and clamped it on the snake. The snake wasn’t going anywhere after that. I went inside to get the appropriate tool to dispatch the snake. In less than 60 seconds he was gone. I didn’t have to worry about where he went while I went back inside. I didn’t have to worry about how I was going to dispatch a small rattler because he was hiding in an inconvenient spot. Love this thing. If you have snakes, you need one.
