Our Hands are Stained with Blood: The Tragic Story of the Church and the Jewish People

Anti-Semitism in on the Rise and Straight From the Pit
Matthew 21:43 has been instrumental in my understanding of Jesus ending the first covenant and beginning the second at the fall of Jerusalem. "Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and given to a people producing its fruits." In verse 45 it states that the chief priests and Pharisees knew Jesus was talking about them. While reading Dr. Brown's book this passage kept coming to me and I wish it would have been addressed directly. Overall, I learned a great deal about the early church fathers' views that were very anti-Semitic, and there were several times when I had to put the book down and grieve over what has happened to the Jewish people (and is happening). I recently read the book Caste by Isabel Wilkerson and had a similar response to her descriptions of persecution against African Americans and Jews. There is much reason to grieve over the past and work to prevent such atrocities from happening in the future.Dr. Brown's book is at times difficult to follow, and I wish there were fewer exclamation points, but the rise of anti-semitism is of tremendous concern, and any blame the Christian Church has had in this rise needs to be addressed and challenged. My husband and I have had many discussions about the nation of Israel returning in 1948. It was such a mess, as Dr. Brown admits, but there is supernatural power in it happening. How is the nation of Israel to be treated? I struggle with treating any nation with favoritism, especially when there is so much sin in a nation. Yet I believe God will use the land to usher in the return of the Jewish people and the return of Jesus. As Robert H. Mounce described on page 194, "beyond the current period of unbelief there would come a time when believing Jews would turn to Christ in faith. They would join the faithful remnant and believing Gentiles to complete the family of God, which stretches throughout all of redemptive history."In awakening to the need to treat all races with respect, I've been reading several books on racism and white supremacy. Rising Out of Hatred: The Awakening of a Former White Nationalist by Eli Saslow also came to mind while reading Dr. Brown's book. Saslow documents the rise in Anti-Semitism in the past four years - especially how it spiked after the election of Donald Trump. The extent to which people in these groups believe that the Holocaust did not happen and that Jews as well as people of color are threats is sobering and seriously difficult to face. Dr. Brown's call to awareness, prayer, repentance, and weeping is needed in the Christian church today. We are to be part of the solution to Anti-Semitism and certainly not a cause of it.

May God forgive us for the pain and suffering the Church has caused against the Jewish people!
I’m grieved to my core after reading this book, BUT it’s a must read for every Christian around the World. Thank you Dr Brown for your devotion to bring truth and a reminder that our hands are certainly stained with blood. May Father forgive us.

A needed wake up call
I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. I even knew quite a bit about the history and current antisemitism. Yet, still this book was an intensely heavy read. I had to take it in small doses. So much hard hitting truth. As a Jewish believer in Jesus it was a lot to take in. Sometimes I was deeply saddened, others I was intensely angered but most of all grieved. What the Church has done has been the exact opposite of what is in the scriptures.I don't know how Dr. Brown was able to write the first edition and then go through and do this one. God bless him. This book will open many eyes to the truths of antisemitism. What has happened in the past is happening now. He lays this out perfectly and in such detail.I wish I could buy hundreds of copies and personally distribute them to the churches where I live. That's how much I believe this book is needed. How much replacement theology has infected the Church. Replacement theology most often morphs into antisemitism. Antisemitism is now running rampant in too many places. This book will surely educate many who are ignorant because they just have never been taught themselves. These truths for love of Israel have never been preached. This book is sure to ignite the passion for Israel and the Jews.Chapter by chapter Dr. Brown walks us through the bloody history and the present. He debunks many hate myths and lies. He provides many resources for us to research ourselves. Dr. Brown also provides steps we can all take. This is the wake up call the Church needs

Christians need this excellent historical book to defend against anti-Jewish lies
Christians need this excellent historical and scripturally-wise book to defend against the anti-Jewish lies which sprout up in every denomination and every culture. Satan loves to spoil God's eternal promises to God's people chosen through Abraham to carry God's Word through the ages. We owe these elder brothers a respect for bearing the wounds through the centuries via which we have today benefited from.Let's face it -- there will come a day when the world will be ready to throw Israel and all those living in the Promised Land under the bus for their delirious dream of "World Peace"."And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. (Zech. 12:3 NKJ)Will Christians stand with Israel or suffer the curses of Jew hatred? In the day that you stood on the other side-- In the day that strangers carried captive his forces, When foreigners entered his gates And cast lots for Jerusalem-- Even you were as one of them. 12 But you should not have gazed on the day of your brother In the day of his captivity; Nor should you have rejoiced over the children of Judah In the day of their destruction; Nor should you have spoken proudly In the day of distress. (Obad. 1:11-12 NKJ)
