Not a miracle device, but it does the job well enough that I can sleep in the hottest nights without waking in sweat.
So this mattress cooler is not like an a/c in the bed, so buy it for what it is. It WILL lower the temperature on your back and on a hot night (90f+) it was able to keep the temps low enough that I was not sweating through the bed and I was able to get a full nights sleep. Maintenance on it is simple, keep it filled as needed, once a month or so use some peroxide in it, all very easy to do.It needs space to suck air in and blow the hot air out, so do NOT put it in some corner with no room to breath. The fans could be better, they are not too loud but you certainly can hear them, and the CFM on them is not as good as it should be for the dbs. I think the unit would be much more successful at full load (hot night etc) with better fans and maybe I will look to replace them later. Mattress itself is decently thick, none of my cats have put holes in it yet, and they have replacements you can get a a decent price.All-in-all if you are super hot natured, or in winter super cold natured this bed will not solve your problems, but will certainly make therm bearable. The heating feature seems to work better than the cooling, as this thing CAN burn you out of the bed in the winter, so really cold natured folks will LOVE it. Us hot natured, as stated it will lower the temp a good 10-15f, or more, but it is the constant flow of cool water coming in that really makes the difference. The heat does not stack up in the bed and start rushing to the surface ending in you waking up in deep sweat from the oven bed you created. It is well worth the money you pay, which is steep, but it allows me to sleep, how much is that worth to you?

Great idea but poor design with terrible support
Bought this in 2015 to resolve "she's hot, he's cold". Worked great for a few months, then one cube failed. Shipped it back for repair at significant expense. Units stopped working several times with responses they "needed to be cleaned". Evidence is there are ongoing problems despite several versions of "cleaning procedure". (We use ONLY distilled water.) Now leaks are starting. Chili reports "no parts are available; try a hardware store". Customer Service has gotten increasingly worse over the years until now they don't even answer the phone. They can change the model number all they want- this appears to be a poorly made (Chinese?) product with terrible support.

Sort of chili
This product works fine in mild heat and low humidity. Any temp over 80° and high humidity, the chilipad develops a lot of condensation on your mattress. The heating part of the pad works incredibly well!

Although expensive, it definitely works.
12/7/2016I have used this product for about 5 night now on my queen sized bed. My early thoughts are this is a well made product that works like it should. Installation is straight forward and easy. The remote is straight forward and easy. The hoses that connect from the pad to the cube and pretty long providing a lot of flexibility for the placement of the cube with respect to your bed. Temperature change is not immediate but easily within 10 minutes of turning the device on, I can tell the temperature is either warming up or cooling down. I noticed there is some intelligence built into the cube. For example, during the initial filling with water, the cube will shut down if the level gets too low. Also, I was not paying attention and a sheet covered up one of the cube's cooling fans. This also caused the unit to shut down probably due to an internal over temperature detection. These are two very welcome features.I often find myself waking up in the middle of night sweating while my significant other is freezing so the dual zones are perfect for us. Setting the temperature low, for me below 70, has about the same feel temperature wise, not wavy wise, of laying on a water bed that is unheated. It can be uncomfortably cold and sort of clammy to me. So this thing can definitely get cold enough for me, too cold really. I really can't feel the pad's water lines beneath me. I sleep on top of a 3 or 4 inch memory foam pad on top of my normal bed.One thing I've noticed that is odd is that if part of the pad is not under the comforter, that exposed part will not really feel like it is changing temperature. When I was trying it out for the first time, I thought something was wrong. Generally speaking, under the comforter, it will feel about like you would expect depending on how high or low the temperature is set (I can set the temperature from 55 to 110). I feel like there are "zones" of the pad that do not feel like they are getting cooled down around my legs. This is not an issue since this works very well to keep my core cool. I could also be imaging things too.

Arrived Defective, Terrible Customer Service
I set this up as soon as it arrived. It was a duel zone system with two cubes. The side on my side of the bed functioned as described however my partner's side did not work. I swapped the cubes and then my partner's side worked and mine did not. I contacted the manufacturer's customer service (which is only reachable by email) to see how I can get the second cube replaced. I waited several days from them to respond and ended up returning the chili pad to Amazon out of frustration. A week after I returned the ChiliPad, the manufacturer responded to my email suggesting that I swap the cubes so they can pinpoint the problem. The email did not contain a phone number for me to reach them. I think the product is probably fine but there are major problems with the company's customer service. For this reason, I would stay away.
