Sunshine in a bottle
I started taking D3 after reading recent studies that found modern people were overall pretty deficient in it. Nearly all the symptoms of deficiency applied to me. I live in a state where it's cold outside for at least six months of the year, and I do a lot of desk work and don't get outside as often as I'd like. For years I was constantly ill, so much so that it became a running joke. Whenever someone in my son's elementary class got sick, it seemed like he'd catch it and bring it on home to me. I can pinpoint the time when the constant colds stopped happening to the time we both started taking D3 supplements (though children under 12 or 13 need far less than adults, they still need more than the 200 I.U. the FDA used to recommend). In the past ten months, we've only been ill once, which is a record around here.It does take a little time to build yourself back up to ideal levels if you're really deficient--seems to have worked out well when I took two for the first month or so and then dropped down to to one a day thereafter. I should mention that I've also begun taking a lot of other supplements like fish oil and probiotics, but this one and perhaps the daily probiotics seems to have been the key.D3 is important for the absorption of calcium, helps depression, high blood pressure, some cardiovascular disease, prevents rickets in children, and a lot more. So far, the Kirkland D3 is the best deal I've found on the web that is of a decent quality (you don't want this in a pressed pill, as it needs oil to absorb best). I'm not sure how the Amazon price compares to the price at Costco, but if memory serves this is pretty close.

Must buy!
Doctor recommended that I take a D3 supplement as I was incredibly deficient....Most people are deficient and do not know it. Ask you doc to check on your next blood tests! Anyhow, I found this, and it is the absolute best deal you will find for the size and price. I feel like a broken record because I bought several Kirkland vitamins, and all my reviews state that these were the best price, and quantity, and the quality has been fantastic. I will buy these over and over again, but it won't be that often because these will last me well over a year.I seem to have more energy, my nails grow faster and with less splitting, and my mood has improved greatly.these are small little pills, no odor, no issues with swallowing them. The expiration date was long, so I will be able to use all 600 of these well before that date comes.

Price vs benefits
Very good pricing compared to other brands. My D levels have been good using this product. Great price and will continue using if price holds.

Easy to swallow, digest and purchase at this reasonable price
Vitamin D deficiency can lead to a host of diseases. It's also very common where I live--up north not far from the Canadian border. So, when I was found to have Vitamin D levels near the low end of the normal range, my doctor recommended I start taking supplements. These softgels are small, easy to digest and are just the right dose if an article by Daniel J DeNoon in WebMD is correct, "New Guidelines Suggest Higher Doses of Vitamin D." It recommends:Age 0 to 1 year: 400 to 1,000 International Units (IU) dailyAge 1 to 18 years: 600 to 1,000 IU dailyAll adults over age 18: 1,500 to 2,000 IU dailyPregnant or nursing women under age 18: 600 to 1,000 IU dailyPregnant or nursing women over age 18: 1,500 to 2,000 IU dailyI'm in that All adults category, so that's what I take.In summary, you can't go wrong with these easy-to-digest Vitamin D3 supplements, especially at such a reasonable price.

Kirkland bulk pills for the win!
Did you know that most people are vitamin D deficient? I never would have thought to test for it, but when both my sisters came up low, I went and got tested and sure enough I was VERY low myself. My doctor instructed to take 2000-3000 IU a day so the Kirkland brand plus a multivitamin puts me right where I need to be. I have no idea why this isn't sold my in my costco store, but its really nice to have it available on amazon at a fair price. Everything available in stores is too small of an IU per capsule and/or bottle amount. With this, I am able to buy and be good for the year! There really is something to taking this supplement, as I try to routinely get tested and I am now in the normal range. I should mention that I live in the traditionally sunny San Diego, so my deficiency isn't due to lack of sun exposure. I guess my body just can't produce enough naturally. I recommend everyone get their vitamin D level tested when doing other blood tests - you might find out you are low too and never knew! It's not a standard testing and you will most likely have to be the one to initiate it.
