Quartz Clock Movement - High Torque - Extra Long Shaft - Clock Repair Kit -

Fits my 40 year old hand made wooden clock even better than the original movement and hands.

After 20 years I replaced the clock movement mechanism and the hands on my burl clock. I first ordered the mechanism and hands from another vendor. That vendor offered three sets of hour and minute hands along with the movement mechanism. Turned out that mechanism had a center shaft that was too short and also the hour and minute hands were cheap and flimsy. I tried to take photos to show that very little handling of the cheaper brand hands scratched the black finish (or maybe is was from rubbing against one another during shipping). My second order was with Quartex, extra long shaft. I was dubious about the secondary step need to choose the hands. You need to send a message through Amazon to the vendor with your choice. Only one set of hands comes with the Quartex mechanism. The company responded in less than 12 hours. The movement mechanism and the hands arrived together in one small box by USPS within a few days. The Quartex hands are more substantial and better coated with the black finish. The mechanism keeps good time and produces a 'tic' that can be heard clearly across the room (a feature I wanted.) I would purchase from Quartex again.

The movement was easy to install and seems to be keeping time for now. The piece I replaced quit working after a couple years, and this one doesn't look any more substantial or better built than that one, so we'll see if it holds up. I would have liked to get red hands with it to contrast with the wood of the clock face, but at least they gave me a choice of styles and in black or gold to choose from.

I was glad to find this unusual size stem that we needed for our mantel clock. The choice of hands is a great feature and the ones I received look a lot better than the originals on our clock. Thank you!!

Very happy with this product. I've had it for a couple months now. I was concerned that the high-torque would go through the AA battery faster than normal movements, but so far I haven't had to change a battery. It's keeping time perfectly and installed easily through the back. This was the first clock I'd built so I was a little concerned with how to secure the movement to the clock itself as the box didn't seem to have any fasteners or slots to anchor the mechanism to the clock face. Included in the box was a rubber gasket that fits over the shaft of the device and uses friction to secure the movement and the clock together. I was a little skeptical at first when I saw it, but it's working very well with my solid wooden clock face.

We have a picture clock that my mother has had for years, and she loves it. When the clock died, this clock gave it new life.

My clock has longer hands this unit does not work as needed. Do not know if functions with included hands unfortunately through them away.
