Comprehensive while still pretty concise. Good quality pages and cover. Feels like a textbook, and is reputable enough to be one. Covers practically anything you can think of for the first 5 years of child development. Very reassuring to have on hand for new (and nerdy lol) parents, guardians, and caregivers

I give this to every first time mothers. It is a very valuable resource when you are at a loss for which direction to turn.

This book is a valuable, comprehensive source of information for the health and well being of young children, for adults with little background in child care, medical training, or pediatric psychology/physiology. This book has great diagrams, menu ideas, development milestones, interactive child/adult developmental play ideas and illness identification. I would highly recommend this book for new parents, or anybody interested in caring for young children.

I used to have this book when my kids were young. I love that the developmental milestones lists. I like that it covers up to age 5. I like the practical advice in an easy-to-read style. I bought this as a gift for my daughter who just had a baby because I used this book all the time when she was little. Best baby care book I owned. Of course, it's updated!

I got this when my oldest was around five because I wasn't sure if his behavior was developmentally appropriate and I thought this book would tell me. This book has a lot more than what appropriate milestones are, but I did not find the information to be as in depth as I wanted on that particular topic for his age. This is more of an encyclopedia of information on many different topics regarding baby and childcare. I would usually just Google to find information like this, but it's no fault of the book--it's just not what I was looking for.

I bought this book for a gift for some new parents. They use it frequently for go-to advice from a credible source. This is a great gift.

Was amazed how in the first weeks after birth things written in the book happen almost to the day.

I was gifted this book 21 years ago and have gifted the newest editions to first time moms. I found that while googling is helpful it can lead you down a rabbit hole while this book is on point when it comes to when to reach out to your pediatrician and when you need to calm down. Definitely a good resource and when you are bombarded with too many opinions ir suggestions it can be intimidating so gift it to yourself or others and ease your mind with this book.

The book I ordered is of 1000 pages. The packaging was too thin to carry this heavy book. It was made of literally just thin paper whereas you should have provided it in a box. Package was already torn when I received it.
