Great phone
Great phone, very user friendly. Just wish it had more memory but most apps I've put on it can be transferred to the SD card

Major Disappointment
This phone is a major disappointment. A CAT equipment owner, CAT enthusiast and a tech goroo, I thought this phone was going to be a grand slam! Not quite! The first thing that turned me off is that this phone is very hard to hold on to! The smooth sides of the phone make it very slippery, especially for someone with dry working hands! A perimeter of rubber, like the corners, would be a great improvement to the design. I found the power and volume buttons to be in a bad spot, nearly in the middle of the phone. Every time you grab the phone, you hit the power or volume buttons by mistake. I bought this to replace my Samsung Galaxy S5. Coming from a nicely set-up Galaxy to the CAT S50c made the functionality deficiencies really stand out. As posted by another person, the lack of a notification LED seems to be a major oversight. The installed keyboard options, Google or Swiftkey are awful, compared to the Samsung keyboard. There are no options on the keyboard for common punctuation by long-holding a key. You have to use a shift key or long-hold and drag from a punctuation key, which is very lame and inconvenient. There also no voice-to-text option on the installed keyboards. Another issue is the camera is very basic with little to no setting options Being a Verizon phone, I expected it to be compatible with all of Verizon's options and features, but this is not the case. This phone is not compatible with Verizon's Visual Voice Mail. At this point, I had not even completed getting the phone set up like my Galaxy, and there were too many deficiencies for me to continue with setup. I have gone back to my Galaxy. If you currently have a Galaxy and are thinking about moving to the CAT S50c, I don't think you will be happy. There is just not enough phone for the money. All that said, I can't discount the fact that this phone is very well build and seems very rugged.

Like a tank: Rugged, but slow
Pros: -They finally came out with a CDMA model! -It's rugged. I'm clumsy; my phone has not yet died nor has the screen cracked. (One caveat: The buttons are the weak spots! I managed to drop it so that it landed exactly on the power button; it doesn't "click" anymore and is not quite as responsive, but still works). -Decently large screen. Good resolution and color. -Firmware and pre-installed stuff is not *too* bloaty as androids go, and much can be removed (...but see below) Cons: -Speaker is not very loud (headphone volume is fine though). -Can't mute camera shutter sound unless you root the device. -Only 8GB memory, 3ish of which is taken up by the OS, firmware, etc etc. Get an SD you say? Not all apps can be moved over, so that only takes you so far. Also, every time you update an app, it reinstalls to the internal card, meaning that if the internal is at 7.8GB, you have to figure out what you want to delete in order to update something else. -While we're talking about SD cards, this phone has a penchant for randomly ejecting (not physically, just the connection) the card as well as sensing that the card is connected but not reading any of the data on it. I know the card I'm using isn't a dud because I've tried it on other devices without this problem. The only way I've found to solve this is to turn the phone off, physically remove the card (somewhat bothersome because it is a waterproof phone so it requires unscrewing a cover flap), wait for 5-15 minutes, and then put everything back together and restart it. Sometimes this works, sometimes you have to do it a couple times. -This phone is EXTREMELY buggy and laggy. This is likely partly due to the small amount of storage space, but even when the phone was basically brand new before I'd installed stuff on it, I noticed the drag. Apps crash a lot, and not just big spacehog ones--even simple ones like the google search bar or other little bitty ones that you could make in a high school Learn to Code class have stability issues that I never experienced on previous devices. Conclusion: It won't meet a natural phone death, but you might kill it by your own volition out of frustration.

DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE; NOT ENOUGH MEMORY!! Slow; internal speaker died after 2 months.
Tough and waterproof for sure. Speakers are good. Good battery life. Gets lots of looks and compliments from friends. Worst thing about it is only 8GB of internal memory. 4GB of that is locked up, so only 4GB to download apps, update apps etc. Have to get good at moving apps from internal memory to the memory card. What a pain. I hope the new update to the OS will unlock the 4GB to help. Other than that, the phone is great. Update to review 7/31/16. Have had this phone for a couple months now. It is HORRIBLE!! Internal speaker just died. Not enough memory to do anything useful. Processor is very slow. Good long battery life, but who cares with all the other problems

Not so smart phone keeps getting dumber.
I've had this phone since August of 2016. It was only ok to start with and has grown only slower with use. The rubber corners have all been super glued to keep them from peeling. The SD card reader works half of the time at best, and has finally quit working altogether. It crashes daily. It drops wi-fi at the slightest hint of service interruption without warning. The only thing this phone is good at is the screen has survived a year without breaking.
