Materia Medica of Western Herbs

I really like this book, because it contains a lot of really valuable information. I recommend it for those who turn to herbalism as a more natural alternative to pharmaceuticals.

Came in great time, in great shape. Very informative it is not a hardcover though. I would classify it as a paperback . But very nice book.

This book has a nice breakdown of the herbs. The only thing they are listed in alphabetical order of the scientific names it also has the common names list with page numbers front of book. It’s a must have.

I really needed a book that would tell more info on herbs such as warnings if on medications or health concerns. This has all that I need.

Love Love Love the information that is given in this book!! I imagine that herbalists and homeopathic doctors use this book alike! The book is very thorough in its discription, usage, side effects and interactions. Highly impressed.

This is an awesome book. I love the detail.

it is a good book, but in my opinion is too general. There are many common medicinal plants not covered here. The ones that are covered do not have many details, the descriptions are brief. I was looking for something more in depth. If anyone has any suggestions please reply. Also I feel like the inclusion of anecdotal evidence in the book was unnecessary.

this is an incredibly informative, concise, well researched, and thorough repository of herbal medical knowledge for the gathering and safe administration of medicinal plants.

Had this book in College, always dreamed of getting a replacement. Enjoy the knowledge it holds.

Like that it had contraindications listed. Quite technical, but worth the extra study it leads to. A great resource for a budding herbalist

Owning the original (which is great) I was very excited to learn this had been "expanded and updated"...and equally disappointed to see it's actually word for word the same. I wondered perhaps if more/different herbs had been added, but that's not the case either. It's basically a rehash of the 2009 version (with not much rehashing!). I returned mine :-(

I excitedly bought this book as it promised "updated and expanded information". When I received it I compared it to my original copy and could not find any updated information. Word for word exactly the same.Very disappointing.If you have the original copy, then you really do not need this version.However, if you don't have the original version then this is still a fantastic resource and I would recommend the text to all Medical Herbalists. It is a wealth of valuable information.
