Are there pesticides or insecticide used on the farms you source your keys from?

The Pea Protein Isolate used in Clean Lean protein is tested quarterly for Arsenic, Cadmium, Mercury, and Lead. Because we use BPA free packaging, we do not regularly test for BPA; there is no need. However, because of the recent publicity surrounding BPA’s and consumer concern, we will be introducing a BPA testing regime just to satisfy customers. For your interest, we also test for allergens quarterly and gluten in every batch. Clean Lean Protein is also certified by the Non-GMO Project and certified Kosher and Halal. Much of the contaminant concerns are due to the source of plant proteins from regions where the soil contamination is high and where the water used in processing may also be contaminated. It is a particular problem with rice, which absorbs the contaminants more readily. That is why we have deliberately chosen pea protein and to source that protein from Europe. The fields of Northern France are regarded to be very safe for growing and the process used for isolation is completely free of chemicals.

Where does the caffeine come from?

Your product description says free of lectins, can you elaborate on this, do you specially process the peas to remove the lectins?

From their website: Peas contain relatively high levels of lectins, but pea protein isolate is practically free from lectins. While peas contain around 37.1 HU/mg protein, pea protein isolate has only ~0.2 HU/mg. So, pea protein isolate would not pose any lectin-related problems for health. In the case of Clean Lean Protein, our patented isolation process renders them FREE of lectins.
