My favorite shaving stick
I've used a handful of different shaving sticks (Arko, Derby, Palmolive, this one) since I started wet shaving and I like La Toja best of all.La Toja's scent beats all of the others by a mile. It isn't harsh and acrid like Derby or Arko, neither does it have that plain soapy smell you get with the Palmolive stick. La Toja smells like sandalwood with a hint of a marine note--very pleasant and not too powdery/sweet at all. I find a lot of similarities between the fragrance of this soap and that of Lea Classic, another superb Spanish shaving soap.La Toja lathers up with ease. I tested it out first on my hand (rubbing the stick right against my palm to load up) and I was amazed with the lather piling up in my synthetic shaving brush once I started whipping it up. La Toja didn't disappoint when it came time to face lather either--my stubble picked up plenty of soap and I got an equally thick plentiful lather as when I lathered it in my hand. La Toja is every bit as simple to lather as Arko, which is famed for its lather-ability.While I have used slicker soaps and creams, I had no issues in getting a great shave with La Toja. I'm totally irritation free and enjoying nice, close shaves with this stick. This soap has nice moisturizing properties as well, especially considering the price. I could immediately tell after the first test lather in my palm when I rinsed my hand. After my hands dried off, the one I used the soap on was notably softer and smoother than my other hand. This held true following the shave. My face feels great--not dried out at all even in the crisp fall weather here in Michigan. While it's a minor thing, I really like the way the stick is packaged with a hard plastic tube to protect it. My only gripe is that the soap stick keeps wanting to fall out of the plastic base when I'm applying it to my skin.La Toja makes an excellent shaving soap that I'm sure most shavers would be happy with.

Good Shaving Stick with a Subtle Scent
This is the first shaving stick I have ever used. I found it is easier to apply the soap to my beard because it is a stick. I used my trusty badger hair shaving brush to create a lather. I don't know if I don't apply enough or my trusty brush isn't working, but it doesn't lather as easily as the YouTube video that I watched to use the shaving stick. It does foam well, but short on lather. Like I said, I'm not sure that I was using enough soap or not. The lather does hold well during the shave, so not all is lost. For the scent, it is pleasant one. The only problem (and to some, not a problem) is that it is very light. I don't wear any colognes or scents, so I depend on my shaving products to produce that manly scent that all men think they need. The scent is there, but you have to be close to my face to smell it.It is worth a try and I believe that you won't be disappointed.

Easy to use and has a mild scent with a great lather.
This is a great travel shave soap. No need for a bowl to lather. Apply the soap directly to your face and face lather. The lather is extremely thick and slick. The sea salts in the soap gives it a great after shave feel. Highly recommend for your shaave den.

Excellent!
The product is excellent. Quick, wonderfully thick lather. Its case has drainage/aeration holes that make it more travel friendly than my Arko stickLaToja is a firm relatively unscented soap that dries well between shaves making it stow-safe in your dopp kit when heading homeArko is a slicker shave with a pleasant traditional soap smell that will continue to be my daily shave soap. However, La Toja stick will be in my dopp kit on the road.

Ugh.
So I’ve been wet shaving over a decade. I prefer harder soaps like Proraso and Tabac. Getting that out of the way, I have never dealt with a thinner, less useful soap in my life. It never seems be lubricating enough. Maybe this is just the case with softer soaps? End result makes this soap absurdly unusable.Mine doesn’t even have a good scent. It doesn’t smell bad, it just smells like hand soap.
