Downton Abbey The Movie [Blu-ray] [2019] [Region Free]

Was a big fan of the TV series and enjoyed the movie a lot, although the audio on this DVD is abysmal! No clue what was happening there. Also some scenes where missing (not found in the "deleted scenes" either)??? Have returned this and will get a digital copy instead.

Very amusing plotIn which British Lion makes a silent movie at the house while most of the family go to the south of France. Lovely photography. If you love the TV series, you should love this.

Loved this film. Great to have my own copy to watch whenever I want.

Didn't like drivers attitude just posted through letter box could of been damaged but wasn't this time

My wife loved the TV Series, and I, patiently, joined in, only to find after every episode, that I actually enjoyed them! My wife wanted to go to the cinema to see the film, but sadly illness prevented that, so the next best thing is the DVD. I am glad I didn't pay good money to see what is just a more expensive, and less satisfying (and longer) TV episode. Julian Fellowes script for once lets him down. In the running time allowed (how much ended up in the editing suite?) he just can't give the much loved characters their moment of glory. Hugh Bonneville is almost peripheral to the plot, as is Elizabeth McGovern, who just looks worried and quizzical throughout. Lady Mary shines, and of course the "grand dames" Smith/Wilton/Staunton are on top form. Plot inconcistencies abound. The climax (no spoiler) is just ridiculous, and the sub plots (no spoilers) are also out of place (see the film and you may agree). Would the Royal household really have been so appallingly rude and arrogant to the staff at Downton when their majesties specifically asked to stay?? All praise to David Haig and Richenda Carey for making their awful characters VERY real! I could go on....So AW - Why 4 stars? Well, the DVD is excellent, good picture, clear sound (another 1 star reviewer must have a faulty copy), and There ARE SUBTITLES. Plenty of extras - not seen by me. And, Yes. I did find as the credits rolled...I had really enjoyed the film, faults and all, so, if in doubt give it ago, and just relax and enjoy (hopefully).

I loved the series and couldn't help wanting the continuation of the great story

Lovely box set in good storage case. All episodes in one case, instead each episode on a single disco. It will give you great pleasure watching when you like.

DVD player would not read said check code for area long wait for it then did not play big disappointment

Great in the Downton tradition. I hope there will be more in the future.
