Goes fine with their IP Cameras!
Was looking a long time for a good POE solution. Most of the affordable switches with POE, had only FOUR ports of POE and 4 regular gigabit ports. This solution needed to support my POE wired cameras. First thing I discovered is how much power POE pushes - around 13 watts of Power. This comes with POE+ and 30 watts of power per port. It also has ALL eight ports set up for POE+, and you can also hook up non-POE devices to this switch. Have it running successfully and very pleased at the performance and at the construction (nice metal case). It does not get really warm, and is power efficient. Have not tested full speeds as it plugs into a Gigabit system, but the cameras are only 10/100. Performance is the same on these with POE as when I had them hooked up to a 1 GB switch with no POE.

Nice product. Lotsa juice.
There's something oddly reassuring when the power brick is much heavier and larger than the device it's powering. Seriously, this POE switch has plenty of power for connected devices (which is why the big brick!). Seems well made and worked 100% right out of the box. I'm using it to power 5 wireless access points, with room and power for a couple more.Follow-up 7-16-2018. Still going strong, about 3 months now.Note: some have commented about noisy fans. This is probably for the 16-port version. The 8-port switch that I have has no fans. Some have also commented about poor warranty service from TRENDnet. I'm hoping to not need to try this out!2/13/2019 Still working just fine.

TRENDnetTPE-TG80g useful PoE Switch
TRENDnetTPE-TG80gPros: Sturdy metal case and so far, stays cool although I have only two TRENDnet HD PoE IP cameras hooked up to it right now. All 8 ports are PoE unlike others that only have 4 PoE and non-PoE ports. And Gigabit speed ports mean no worry about bottle necks at your switch.Cons: I was surprised and disappointed that it did not have optional bottom mounting holes as Netgear does on their switch models. I had to be a bit creative in mounting it vertically on our network wall panel. I used a thin strip of metal from Ace Hardware and bent it over the switch essential strapping it to the panel with two screws while not blocking the air vents.02-15-2018 update: I now have more than 5 IP HD PoE cameras hooked up to it now and it runs fine, runs cool.

This is fantastic, plug and play installation
This is fantastic, plug and play installation. I currently have it powering on 4 Logitech alert cameras and 2 hikvision cameras with ease. The power brick is big but still much much smaller compared to the Xbox one brick lol. It is all metal so somewhat keep it cool. I have it in a 9u network cabinet and it is yet to get even warm. Overall I am very happy with this.

Power to the Cameras
I am running 4 Foscam cameras in my home from this POE switch. Love this thing. Saved me lot of money and time. Only having to pull Cat5e to each camera location. Two cameras inside the house have a POE splitter. No compatibility issues with the splitters. Two cameras are weather rated POE cameras. Plug them in and turned on with no issues.Make sure to place this switch in a location with ventilation . The switch will get warm. I installed stand-offs on the door of my date cabinet to make sure things do not shutdown.Have no issues with speed or connections. Have not configured for large packets.

The fans are necessary to keep it cool, but yep
Simple, efficient works very well. The other comments about the fan noise are correct, but I assume this was made to sit in a computer room, rack mounted. The fans are necessary to keep it cool, but yep, they are pretty loud.

Another great device from TrendNet
Upgraded from the 4 port to 8 port. So far it is powering 3 cameras using trendnet poe adapters at the camera, one outside camera, and one access point. No issues at all. I plan on adding 2 more poe devices and have no doubt this will be up for the challenge. The power brick is big, but that means a nice, small, compact, switch.
