YogaAccessories 1/4" Thick High Density Deluxe Non Slip Exercise Pilates & Yoga Mat

So far, I really like it.When I first got it it had that layer of slippery that most of these mats have and a slight "new" smell, also typical, in my experience, with mats made of this material. Given that I was in no rush to use it, it stood in a corner rolled loosely for a couple of weeks, and by the time I stretched it out on my befroom floor and started walking on it and using it at home (to get rid of the slippery before I used it at the studio), the smell was gone. My palms tend to sweat a lot and the first few times I used it at home I had to dry my hands every so often, but the slippery layer didn't take long to go away (I used it for my home practice maybe four times before I took it to the studio). I didn't wash it.If you're in a hurry to use it as soon as you get it, it's likely that you'll find it slippery and that the mat will still have that "new" smell that bothers some people, but if you can, I recommend letting it air for a few days (probably doesn't need to be as long as I let it).The 6.2mm is just perfect. I would have been content with 5mm, but I like the 6.2mm a lot! It's cushion enough that knees don't hurt when kneeling, but also stable for standing and balancing poses.It is a bit heavier than I was used to (the mat I replaced with this one was 4mm and shorter) but it's not so heavy that it can't be carried around... well, I don't mind, anyway. The extra length, I don't really care either way 'cos I'm not exactly tall and I don't mind if my head sticks out of the mat...The only thing I don't like is that the thin vertical and horizontal lines that make the pattern are not parallel/perpendicular to the edges of the mat... it's like the machine that cut the material was at an angle (small angle) in relation to the material, so it looks a bit crooked to me. I wish it weren't, but being honest, I have seen maybe one mat with this patters that was cut "right" (with the lines parallel/perpendicular to the edges) and it was mine, which I hand picked for that very same reason. I'm a bit anal about 90º angles and straight lines. :PAnyway, so far (I haven't been using it at the studio for long, maybe two weeks?) I like it. I think the description of the product is accurate, I wasn't expecting anything more or anything less... we had no problem with the delivery, either. We'll see how it goes with more use, in time, but if all goes well it should last me at least two years.Forrest Green is lovely.

So, I have to confess up front that we use these mats more for our dogs than for yoga. My older dog has problems walking on the tile floors in our house. A vet recommended that we buy yoga mats to place on the floor to provide traction and stability. I purchased 4 of these mats and they have been awesome! They are tough - they have withstood the abuse of two dogs and are walked on everyday. The color of the mats was the same as pictured on Amazon, which was important since we were placing these all over our house. My wife has used one of the mats for occasional yoga and has been pleased with the thickness of the mats. Also, they don't get slick from sweat or water like some other mats we have used. We originally tried a couple of Gaiam yoga mats on the floors for our dogs and they lasted about 3 months before completely disintegrating. Funny b/c the Gaiam mats are about 3X more expensive than these mats. I would highly recommend these mats for yoga or for your older dogs! You can't beat these mats for the price.

I've had this mat for 3 years now and it has held up extremely well. I use it in my yoga class 2 to 3 times a week for an hour.The thickness of the mat has a lot of advantages. I've used thicker maps that I've had problems balancing on and thinner mats (Gaiam) that will move during exercises. The Gaiam mat has also not aged well at all.Warning on cleaning: This mat is a BIG sponge when wet. To wash it I put it in fresh water first and let it soak before applying soap. If you put it in soapy water from the start, it will take a very long time to get the soap out of the mat.

I enjoy the thickness of my mat. It is true that it can be a bit slippery when 1st purchased. I washed mine with soap and water in the tub a few times and the more I use it, the less slippery it gets(also remember to wash hands of any lotion before beginning your yoga session). I would recommend this one to someone who is starting YOGA. There are probably better mats, but the price and the value is perfect.

The length and density of this mat are great. The only thing that I did not like about this mat is that it is slippery. I am hoping as I keep using it that it will get better. Overall, I am very happy I bought it!

I am disappointed in this product. I can't use it because yoga mats are suppose to be "sticky" so you can hold postures and not slide or slip....this mat is not sticky. My yoga instructor suggested that I put it in the bathtub with dish detergent and water, then wrap it in a towel and run it through the spin cycle in the washer. I have not tried that yet but really I shouldn't have to. I have bought many yoga mats in the past that were fine, no prep neseccary. Maybe there were instructions that came with the mat on what to clean it with to make it sticky but I did not see any.

This mat us comfortable and attractive BUT it is slippery. I have a regular yoga practice and stability and traction are imperative for safetyespecially in more advanced poses. With the slightest moisture (sweat) your hands and feet slide. If you have a less intensive workout this mat may be okay for you.

I like the variety of colors and I'm glad with the matts look. It's a lot longer than I though it would be and YES mine had a smell too but the smell went away after a couple days but the smell didn't make me feel good lol but I would buy it again I wouldn't let a smell scare you away from a good deal.
