This appears to be deeper than most square bakers. How deep is it? I am doubting the 4.5 inches in the description.

First of all I love my two bakers. You are correct to question the depth of 4.5 inches. I just measured interior at 2.5 inches from bottom to rim and exterior measurements at 3.75 inches from bottom to top of handle (may be important for storage). It is deeper, however, than most 9inch sq. baking dishes and definitely represents the quality of Le Creuset.

Is this stoneware safe in a toaster oven?

I bought mine for my (oster) toaster convection oven did great job!
