Works well with 11ft Umbrella
Quite happy with this stand. It works very well with our 11ft umbrella. We followed another customer’s suggestion in his review to fill the base with 50# of play sand and then water. Absolutely works and makes the stand very sturdy. As he also suggested, be sure to place the stand where you want it before filling it because it gets HEAVY and tricky to move.Great price for the stand and a bag of play sand is about $5.

LIGHTER THAN A GALLON OF MILK WHEN EMPTY - SUPER EASY TO CARRY AND SET UP. FILLED WEIGHTS 48 LBS!
PERFECT FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE A STRENGHT TO CARRY HEAVY METAL OR CEMENT LEADEN UMBRELLA STANDS THAT WEIGHT A TONE!!!!*** This UMBRELLA STAND WEIGHTS 7 LBS WHEN EMTPY! THAT IS LESS THEN A GALLON OF MILK!!*****- I kid you NOT! The gallon of milk weights more then this stand when it arrives to your door. It is empty plastic stand.- When you open the box, take it out and take it wherever you need it, then you fill it with water, just grab any pot or a large soda bottle or what have you and keep filling it until it is filled completly.- Then just close it with the twist top and you are done! The stand is really IDEAL for anyone who:- has a problem carrying heavy items- had any surgeries and can NOT carry heavy items- is weak and can not or should not carry heavy items- does not like to carry heavy items- cares too much about their legs, back, spine and joints to carry heavy itemsPerfect for those situation when:- Your balcony, deck or patio is very far away and you would need to carry otherwise heavy metal stand for a long stretch.- if you have a lot of stairs .. you can bring this stand super easily .. remember less then gallon of milk! weight worth.- if you have to store the stand over the winter in some area that you normally would struggle to carry heavy stand, this one is easy, just remove the water and you can carry it easily and store vertically if need be.I can't be happier with this item. It is fabulous concept that many people who live alone and are elderly or weaker or simply don't have a strength to deal with heavy objects finally are free to own an umbrella stand that before was prohibitive situation due to the weight. It solves once for all the issue of heavy umbrella stands!I got couple of them in strategic locations and absolutely love them.ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS ITEM WORTH A NOBLE PRIZE IN SOLVING ONE WORLD PROBLEM - INSANELY HEAVY UMBRELLA STANDS THAT REQUIRED AN ATHLETE OR A CRANE TO MOVE TO POSITION.

Great so far!
I received this today and immediately went to Lowe's for sand (50 pound bag of Play Sand for less than $5) and a cheap plastic funnel set (less than $5). Assembly was pretty easy (there is a diagram that shows how to do it). Make sure to place the stand where you want it to live, as it will be heavy when you're done! I put the bag of sand into a bucket 10 pounds or so at a time (to make it easier to deal with) and used a funnel to empty it into the hole. Of course, you will need to tilt the stand to make room for more sand. When the entire bag had been emptied, I tilted the stand to attempt to spread it evenly inside, then used the funnel again to add water until it was full (leave some room for when the water freezes in Winter). Some other reviewers mentioned the following issues:1) difficult to get the base tube all the way into the stand because of a plastic lip inside - I did not encounter this.2) the base pole spins if windy, which can be a problem when using an umbrella with the tilt feature - I haven't encountered this, probably because of the heavy weight resulting from filling with both sand and water. Time will tell whether or not this remains the case.3) water gets into the base tube if it rains when the umbrella is removed. I am trying to figure out some way to "cap" the base tube to prevent this from happening when not holding an umbrella.

Worth the money
Our old umbrella stand pulled apart in a wind storm so we bought this to replace it. It is easier to move around then the old metal one (it is very light until the water is added to the base), but it has already tipped over in a strong gust of wind. After filling it with water it does weigh about 50 lbs. but it is top heavy with a big umbrella so it is susceptible to tipping over in strong winds. . Other reviews have said you still need to add weight, which is true. I'm just going to add some extra weight with some bags of sand on the base. This stand will work with some extra weight added and is still easy enough to move around when you remove the water added to the base

Wrong part provided but otherwise good.
Seems sturdy. Haven't been able to complete set up as the screw they provided was far too short. So have to go to home depot to get the right one. But it looks like it will do a great job.

Rusts
This product is designed for an outdoor umbrella, which is obviously going to be exposed to the elements, including rain. Well, let me tell you, this stand has metal parts on the bottom, which rust and then leave rust stains on your patio floor.
