Q: It floats horizontally when at the top of bottled not squeezed, is it supposed to remain vertical at all times? If so, what is wrong?

Fill the diver with a small amount of water. Then put it in a cylinder or bottle leaving space in the container for air. The bottle or cylinder will need to be closed. When a cylinder is used, we stretch a piece of rubber dam over the mouth of the cylinder and secure it with a rubber band. When you squeeze the bottle or press down on the rubber dam, the water in the bottle will be forced into the diver which will increase the weight of the diver and it will sink. When you release the pressure, the opposite will happen and the diver will float.
