OMG....I couldn't be more amazed at these blends. I was able to replicate a chicken masala recipe from a favorite local restaurant based strictly on scent! Yeah... the aroma floats right out of these beautiful tins. I opened each tin and decided to try a tablespoon of the Tandoori masala mixed with 1 tsp of garam masala. I warmed up the spices in oil and hung out a bit deleriously over these fragrant fresh spices. I haven't ever cooked any fresh Indian dishes (just prepared jars) so I added a can of coconut milk (had no idea if I'd be ok with result) and added extra paprika for color. What's the Indian word for Voila? Anyway, the "instant" sauce was an almost perfect heavenly "restaurant quality" gravy to pour over basmati and braised chicken. I had fully expected to have some disappointments while trying to duplicate a favorite restaurant recipe. Instead, I'm crazy happy. I did "brighten" the sauce with maybe 3 oz of chopped canned tomatoes/ juice and salted to taste. But Wow ... EASY, FRESH, FAST and amazingly delicious. I feel kind of bad my favorite local restaurant is gonna see a lot less of me. FWIW: Historically I'm not much of a cook but Spicewalla made me feel like a chef in just minutes. Way to go... Spicewalla.

These are wonderful spices! I’ve used them all and this is my 2nd time ordering them. They are fresh and very authentic for my delicious Indian food. Very pleased with this purchase and would buy again and again!

Main review: Just what I was looking for. Fragrant, tasty and perfect quantity. Addendum: As a child, I remember going to the market to this lady's shop where she would blend and grind her own spices. A recent discussion on that with my parents made me realize that the current spices that I use lack some taste (maybe I kept them too long). Store bought spices are not necessarily bad but you have to find the good ones and stick with them. Given the choice now a days, it is very difficult to identify the best ones unless someone recommends a product. You don't need a lot of the spice so I was looking for a solution for freshly ground spice in a quantity that can be re-ordered. Spicewalla fits all these criteria. Filling the tin cans with the spices made our kitchen smell good. I just cooked some marinated chicken with tandoori masala and some potatoes with garam masala and you can smell and taste the difference. I hope they can add some more combinations (e.g. meat masala) in the future and continue the business with the same philosophy that they started with. Update: I see that some buyers have talked about it being not hot enough and I agree. Usually, we add more than one spice that is during cooking so one can always supplement with either black pepper, fresh green chillies, habaneros (yes, I used to put one in my curries) or red chili powder.

These Indian spices are out of this world! The smell of them....Ahhh! My husband made an Indian dish last night and used these. They were delicious! One of my favorite things about this little spice set is the very nice, good-quality box they come in. They're perfect for a gift! I definitely recommend this set!

My son-in-law said that you could almost smell them across the room. To him that was an indication they were high-quality and fresh. He really enjoys, using them on certain dishes Would buy more for sure.
