No I wouldn’t put them in washer. But can be spot cleaned with mild detergent and damp cloth.

It is pretty thick, but an industrial embroider machine could maybe handle it.

how do you repair one of these when a thread breaks?

I believe it would be fairly easy to do with a proper needle & thread however I am an experienced seamstress .
