Anyone else getting white film on everything from this humidifier? How did you fix the problem?

This happens when you are using water with high flouride and other mineral content, which is the case for most municipal tap water in the US. The film is the flouride, lead, copper, and whatever else was in the water that you put into the humidifier. Get yourself a countertop reverse osmosis system or at least a basic pitcher filter. My super basic $150 RO system took total dissolved solids down from 300ppm to <20. My water tastes better and is safer to drink, my plants and dogs are happier, and my humidifiers no longer spew minerals all over my furniture, plants and floors.

Why all the sudden did the blue light go out and will not come back on?

You probably hit the lightbulb button located on the bottom right corner of the front panel that turns off the nightlight feature

will the lights shut off completely even the blue light if I choose to have a complete dark no emitting light at all?

Yes you have the option of running the blue light or having the light off as the machine runs. We run the one in our bedroom without the light on but use the one in our media room with the blue light on - as a nightlight.
