Q: Is the stick really big

Compared to Ralph Hardemon's it is not. I even use them for symphonic band sometimes just because the weight is easier to control, but I still want a little bit of volume. Hope this helps!!!

It depends on the time of drum heads. I have Removed Clear Pinstripes and the sticks give a very articulate sound. It gives a lot of attack yet somehow decreases the sustain of each note. In summary: you get the same tone and louder attack but less sustain.

There's no such thing as a better stick. It's all preference. In this case, the DC-50's are a little shorter than these, but also a little bit larger in diameter. They're both hickory and have the same tip.

Basically Concert Sticks

I was expecting the sticks to be the same size and everything as normal marching sticks, just lightweight. But these are more like concert sticks. But I guess I can use them for my kit

Mixup

Great sticks I'm assuming, but I received the wrong pair. I got Mike Portnoy nylon tips instead. Weird. Probably a mixup.
