Amazing Stuff
I was doing a repair project for my wife’s wooden porch swing. The arm rests had quite a bit of rot with one I thought would need replacing. I heard about Minwax Wood Hardener so I thought I’d give it a try before ripping pieces apart. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it actually worked. I followed the directions and it is amazing how stable the wood became. It took a little effort to shape one of the rests after applying a wood filler but with patience and a good sanding I got it right. I applied the hardener to one seat slat and a few other spots and it’s like concrete! I actually placed a couple of screws through some areas and it’s holding up. It saved me from having to buy limber and making saw cuts. You can even paint over it. Very satisfied.

Really hardens rotted wood and allows repair.
This product is used to stabilize punky or slightly rotted wood. I use in wood turning when I want to stabilize a piece that has interesting color but is a bit soft. The hardener will soak in and must be allowed to dry before using. I have also used it for repairs (house, e.g. window frames usually on the bottom where water has caused some damage. Once the liquid has dried the wood has hardened and can be repaired if needed with corresponding filler product, sanded and refinished. Drill first if using screws. Liquid is very sticky and can be brushed on. I use two "coats" when the damage is extensive. The filler drys very hard so try to get the filling smooth and use two fillings if damage is deep.

Easy to apply, Good for light duty jobs
Definitely does the job, and it's easy to use. I bought it primarily to seal some of the boards on my wooden deck. It's good for sealing the end grains of the boards, and to waterproof the areas when water drips on the deck. You can paint or stain over the wood after the hardener dries. For serious wood issues like insect damage or rot, I get better results from a two-part wood hardener. But for light duty, this is great stuff. I like that it is thinner than the two-part epoxies and can be applied with a syringe. If you see some wood getting soft, just drill some small holes in the affected areas and squirt some hardener in with a syringe. Fill the hole with wood putty and its good as new after a coat of paint. This works great and will save you hours of work. It takes hours to dry, but that's good because it takes time to penetrate the wood fibers. If you are looking at it, give it a try.

why replace bad wood?
if the decayed wood isn't structural but rather cosmetic, put this stuff, then DAP filler for a great, easy repair to be painted..... helps keep your landfill empty

Does a fantastic job on wood rot. Seals the wood back up.
I just worked on someone’s deck that a lot of wood areas that were literally rotten and were about ready to fall apart. Surprisingly, you can use this and its chemical bins with the wood and creates almost like a plastic sort of composite wood. You might have to do it a few times to get it to really soak in. After it’s all dry and then use a wood epoxy on top to level everything out. Now I’ve done this before and it’s lasted for years. It’s extremely durable. It definitely soaks in the wood, rot and hardens it up. Very impressed.

Perfect for Shoring Up Water Damaged Wood
In my opinion, this is the best wood restoration product on the market today. I bought a can of this and then I purchased two more. I recently purchased 5 on top of that. This product has the same smell and consistency of really thin model glue. Make sure that all wood that can break off or flake off is removed and the area cleaned. Ensure that your area has proper ventilation. Wear rubber gloves and spread it with a sponge by squeezing generous amounts over the compromised wood. This produce quickly penetrates the smallest pores, holes, and cracks and hardens like a rock. It will provide a solid foundation for adding structural wood resin when filling small areas that are missing wood. It can be primed and painted following a cure time of 2-4 hours. I would wait 24 hours just to be safe but 2-4 hours is sufficient. I have used this to shore small areas of water damaged plywood when replacing siding. Cedar siding is expensive. Why tear away all that siding to replace a whole sheet of plywood when only a small area is damaged? This is perfect for a DIY-er dealing with time and/or budget constraints. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Excellent deal
Can’t find a better deal in this any of the box hardware stores or even Amazon. This is the new product even though the picture is of the old bottle. I have bought several cases of these for a large project. I’ve been working on to harden the wood

Yep it worked

It does a good job of solidifying punky wood, and dries fast. It took half a can to deal with four picnic table legs, so it's not cheap.
