Only had it on for about a month
Functions perfectly.. probably just like the factory one. Like others, i had difficulty stretching the spring to the attachment point. My wife sat on the bike with both brakes on and i used my backhoe to gently stretch the spring enough to insert about a dozen washers to lengthen the spring. Released the backhoe and the spring was longer than needed to attach to the mounting pin. Then i simply removed each washer with a pair of pliers. I hope it passes the test of time.. if the spring tab weld fails, I'll just reweld it.Having the center stand on my Versys X 300 is awesome.. makes all wheel cleaning and chain maintenance sooo easy. A must have imo.

Great value, quality, and workmanship
This little stand is great for the Versys-X 300! When it arrived, I was impressed by the thoughtful way it was packaged to protect it against damage. It may seem a trifle, but I've received higher priced items with crap packaging that left the new item damaged during delivery. Upon inspection, I was impressed with the build quality. The welds appear clean - there was no spatter, no heavy grind marks, the welds were clean and neat - and the paint job was smooth and even. The stand comes with all required hardware that is good quality and installation was a breeze. The stand's ergonomics allow it to lift the bike easily and it tucks back out of the way as it should. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

I need to work out
The spring is SO strong! I spent all night trying to attach the spring but no luck. Ended up bringing the bike to a mechanics and he pulled the string for me.If you want to pull the string you need 1. a heavy duty spring puller (I bought the MotionPro spring puller for this purpose); 2. a strong body, maybe a friend helps.Or you can try the ratchet strap method my the other reviewers. The center stand works pretty well. I changed my engine oil today thanks to the stand.

Critical failure
This is the second center stand i bought, same seller. First one was for my bike, and it worked like a charm. No issues, fit perfectly, string was strong and worked witb the washer trick. The second was for my fathers bike...and as you see in the pictures the spring stud snapped right off. Critical failure where its better not to have the stand on than fighting some make shift bungee cord. Now me...i just welded it back on, some paint, and did the washer trick and its working like it should. But if you dont have a welder what would you do,if i would have had the spring installed under pressure, would i have even found the stud to be able to weld it back on.( i didnt even put pressure on the stud yet, it just fell off in my hand)... one star cause a 15 min job turned into and hour, plus hundreds of dollars of equipment needed to get it fixed. And now im wondering if my center stand (the first one i bought on my personal bike) is going to fail also. Peace of mind is gone now.

Finicky to install, but 100 percent functional
Good budget alternative to the OEM stand. Fitment is a little off. The stand was slightly too narrow to fit into the bike easily. Took one person on each side of the bike to fenagle it onto the mounts, but it fit without any modification. The spring is also a challenge to get on. I would up using a ratchet strap to stretch it enough to hook on. Now that it's on though, it works great! Saves around $150 over the OEM one for the same thing.-Update: After 1 year, the spring fell off while riding. Nothing got damaged, but it did scare me pretty good until I figured out what was bouncing around down there. I replaced it with the OEM side stand spring and it fits just fine. I would recommend just using the kawasaki spring from the get go since its a better quality spring and it comes with a rubber hose around it for more protection. Also, one of the bolts holding it on fell off during the ordeal, so I'd recommend using some locktite when installing it.

Use Loctite!
Install was easy. Getting the spring on is not fun. I had torqued the fasteners as directed, but the nuts loosened anyway and lost the hardware. You MUST use Loctite. I wish I could purchase spare sleeves, but no luck.

Spring is overkill
I'm hesitant to rate this with 5 stars. The bracket holding the spring on the stand is welded on in 2 spots which may not be enough long term with the amount of tension the spring provides. Another reviewer suggested using the OE side stand spring but those are unavailable at this time.I attached some photos to show a trick to connect the spring to the frame side mount. I initially tried using a smaller screwdriver to pry but found it was bending. Once I was able to pry the spring out I used a hammer to tap it over the frame mount. From there it was just a matter of getting my pry bar out from the spring.

A must have item for the Versys
This center stand has made it much easier to perform maintenance on my bike, from oil changes to more complex work. The fit and finish was better than the pictures which was a first for me. I feel confident with this on my bike. To be safe I ordered extra springs in case this falls off, however I have rode 200kms so far through rough roads and it has held up nicely. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. It is a MUST HAVE item for the Versys.
