More like Disintegrator!
I love this stuff. BurnOut is a great and accurate name, but they should call it Disintegrator! Here in our Eastern NC transition zone, we have lots of pesky weeds and grasses. Getting Fescue to outcompete the many competing grass species is hard enough. But like sore losers, all the pesky grasses that lose in the yard, set up shop in my beds. Crabgrass, Bermuda, and the highly prolific Japanese stiltgrass. It used to be an endless struggle to keep beds clear for even a week in the height of growing season. Now I do this: let the grass/weeds grow to maybe 4-6 inches everywhere where they take. Around here that doesn't take long. Then I take my push mower and walk it right through the beds and chop everything down. Then I immediately spray what I just cut with BurnOut. And the result is amazing. It doesn't just kill the weeds. It doesn't just burn out the weeds. It freaking DISINTEGRATES THEM. Usually within 48 hours. And by disintegrate, I mean they are dead, gone for the rest of the season, and there is not even a trace that they ever existed. It literally burns them to dust and they blow away in the wind. This used to make me nervous given that my beds are also full of azaelas and boxwoods. I feared that getting this on them would have the same result. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that it doesn't. You can pretty much spray it 'over the top' of many ornamentals, though I would always prove that to yourself before going all in. Also as others have noted, this DOES give year over year cumulative results. I have one large bed that would be covered end to end with Japanese Stiltgrass by mid may. As of today 5/13, only one small patch is just coming in. I just ordered more burnout, so within 4 days (including the 2 that i will spend waiting for delivery) that stiltgrass will be DUST. And likely won't come back next year at all. And for the record this stuff has never clogged any of my sprayers (I need an arsenal of them around here). I absolutely LOVE this stuff though it could stand to be just a little cheaper. One more tip I'll share. First and foremost, ALWAYS use products like these exactly as directed, when directed and where directed. If you don't you're probably just going to waste your money. Once you've done that and gotten an accurate picture of what proper use looks like, then maybe you can cheat a little to stretch your dollar. Here's one such cheat I found: If you have one of those Ortho or Spectracide 1 quart hose sprayer bottles, they are great for this. Empty and clean it (or don't, more weed killer is better right). Then fill it with pure BurnOut concentrate. You should be able to treat a pretty big area this way. BurnOut says this would treat 1500 s/f but I can typically treat 2000-2500 s/f pretty effectively this way. Not sure if Bonide would back me on this, but I've proven it to myself more than once. For the price, and the size of my beds, it helps to be able to stretch it a little this way. The picture above is of one of my beds one week after treatment. This bed had been completely covered with knee high Japanese Stiltgrass. Note that it is effectively disintegrated. And hasn't returned in 2 years BTW. I treated this bed using the Ortho sprayer and the procedure described in the first paragraph. Couldn't have asked for better results.

Praise with a serious warning
This product works as claimed and it is impressive. The name is perfect! The vegetation appears as if it has been attacked by a flame thrower. I used it under my extensive plantings of wine grapes to avoid damage to the vines as well as the weeds. Other products ,so widely used , can do just that. Now for two points to consider,no three. It is costly unless you are working on a postage stamp area. If you do not have a sprayer that can handle sludge ,beware. I am a very experienced gardener and own a top of the line sprayer as well as one that is as cheep as one can get --- you do want one that filters. And has a safety release if your spraying is stopped with a clogging of the filter or nosel . I never spray a new product in my top dog unless I've tested it out in Mr. Cheapo . Sure glad I did . It clogged in less than two minutes. After cleaning everything up,I tried again ,straining the product through a VERY fine mesh( I suppose cheese cloth would work). Success. Be warned and take precautions. The final results after the frustration were excellent. Gary L. Magruder

For what it kills it's great for what it doesn't there are alternatives
Strong scent as noted. I like the smell but I could see some people wouldn't like. Complaints on its killing ability are justified. For the plants that are susceptible to it it's great as shown by dead whistle and some grass. This is not a kills everything spray and that's a problem as in other reviews I can read it's not killing what they want it to. For me it's killing 4 out of the 7 pesky varieties of weeds in my yard. For the resistant 3 I will return to using a flame dragon or small flame burner that kills anything it hits.I am happy with reducing my starting problem by 4. Beware of roundup and the like as although they are not yet banned in US they are considered a possible cancer causing agent. As a landscaper I used it in maintaining clients yards for 20 years and coincidentally now have non hodgkins lymphoma. With choices out there why take the risk.

False Advertising at it's Worst! Don't Bother !
This is just so terrible I don't know how to deal with it. My husband and I are very frustrated. After following directions we put pine straw over the entire yard area. Next thing we know dollar weeds began showing in about 70 per cent of the yard. We raked back the pine straw to find green grass and weeds and the dollar weeds. We resprayed ... didn't work. So now we are having to rake up all of the pine straw and figure out if we want to shovel up all top area of grass and weeds...or use round up (hate that because of the chemical and we have a dog so this is dangerous) or spray with round up and put down weed mat .... either way the time of having to do this, not to mention the expense is horrible. This stuff did nothing on anything...grass weeds nothing. They should be sued for false advertisement says my husband. If you are looking for something to use on grass or weeds ...look elsewhere.... so frustrated....
