Got this for my daughter's 6th birthday from an ad she saw on TV. Absolutely love it. It is so cute and works fantastically. I'm always amazed by how much toys have evolved since I was a kid. I would have loved to have a doll that swam. It's perfect for us. I don't know about longevity but it does what we were hoping. So fun!

Despite many reviews I saw that were "eh" about this product I bought it for my daughter who receieved a visit from the "lovey fairy". I was a little nervous about this toy, and after awhile we got it to work just fine! Not sure why it never started working in a swimming pool, but later that night worked in the bath tub. Well she worked for awhile, and still does...only problem now she doesn't turn off!!! We now have to take the batteries out to get her to stop working which is a pain. Before she would stop working once out of the water.. If doesn't swim that fast or well like in the commercial either. I would think twice about buying it for a long time toy.

This was the only thing my 3 year old asked for at Christmas. After a crazy search we were unable to find it in stores, so I turned to Amazon. The original price was around $30, I ended up paying $140 because of a greedy price gouging seller. Which I realize is completely ridiculous, but I didn't want Christmas ruined when the one item she asked for wasn't under the tree. That being said, she was very excited to receive it on Christmas morning and immediately wanted to get in the tub with her "swimming baby". This piece of crap doll worked TWICE, that's right TWICE! It now just floats lifelessly around the tub. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

I bought this doll well over a year ago for my then 3 year old granddaughter. It still works as well as it did when we got it. I read the instructions and tested the doll in the bathtub before I gave it to my granddaughter. The first six months we only used it in the bathtub, which turned out to be a good idea because we "both" learned how to play with her. We've taken it on vacations and she made a lot of friends real quickly when it swam in the pool. Following are some helpful hints I recommend. First the positioning of her arms and head before putting her in the water determines how she is going to swim, such as on her side or face down. Now that my granddaughter is older she tweaks this often to see what else she can do. Take the doll out of the water every so often and turn her upside down to let the water run out of her head. This takes a couple of seconds, but makes a difference in her performance. Last, when finished playing we turn the doll upside down in the tub or in a little plastic pail/container to let the water run out. Usually dries out completely in a few hours. The excitement and joy on her face when I put the doll in the water the first time was worth every cent it cost.

The first time in the pool the doll worked pretty well as advertised. She could swim the length of a 40 ft pool. The doll was handled delicately, because we had read other reviews saying it did not swim properly. We read and followed the directions which came with the doll. We took the batteries out after this first use and dried the compartment to prevent any problems with the batteries/corrosion. The next time, and subsequent times we played with the doll in the pool she swam less and less well. She tends to lean to one side and no longer swims straight ahead. Still fun to play with as a doll, but not as good it could be. We were very careful with her, and still take care of her drying her after each outing and taking out the batteries.

This is a very cute toy and my granddaughter loves it. It goes in our pool with her now every time she swims, It does seem to want to roll over onto it's back a little too easily, which is why I gave it only four stars, but it's fun, cute, swims well most of the time, and our 4 year old loves it.

Really nice item. My daughter loves that it swims. It's a bit lob sided when it swims but that may be down to cheap batteries.

Super love this dolly - it really swims!! The baby goggles and flippers were soooooo adorable.
