Solid build quality, but too noisy to open and close
I bought this with the intent of using it for off-camera flash photography during wedding receptions. My criteria was to find something that would:- Open and close quickly with one hand, allowing me to continue shooting while moving the stand around- Be sturdy- Had a great number of recommendations from fellow buyers and photographers- A stand that would extend out between 6' - 12' tall so it could also be used to light up a room from the corner or edgeThis light stand meets all that criteria... until I came across one surprise: it is NOISY to close and open.As much as I really wanted to like the lightstand, I unfortunately cannot use it during a wedding reception or other intimate moments without potentially distracting the subjects. I decided to return it and get the Manfrotto 5001B Nano stand instead because it's much more quiet (especially if you tape the legs with some Gaffe tape), and turns out to be lighter and less expensive. However, the Manfrotto does have one big disadvantage: because it is so light, it could more easily tip over, but for my purpose of moving around a SpeedLite flash, this is fine. The lighter weight would also help my arms save some energy. The Manfrotto also only opens up about 6' max, and so it won't be used much for rim lighting at a reception area. So, Pros and Cons between the Manfrotto and CheetahStand:CheetahStand PROS- Opens and closes quickly with one hand- Very sturdy- Lots of recommendations from peers- Can extend up to 10' tallCheetahStand CONS- Too loud to close and open- Is heavier than the ManfrottoManfrotto PROS- Opens and closes quickly with one hand- Opens and closes quietly- Lightweight- Lots of recommendations from peersManfrotto CONS- Can only extend up to 6' tall- The light weight could make it more prone to tipping over with heavier objects, but for SpeedLite flashes, it's fineFor half the price of the CheetahStand C10, I am happier with my Manfrotto purchase for run-and-gun shooting. But for a stand that could move quickly around AND be used for tall, perimeter lighting, this lightstand is PERFECT. So, both stands are great purchases, depending on what your needs are.

Absolutely LOVE this, it's going to solve my wedding reception issues!
I love it! I love that self opens when setting it down and closes on it's own when I lift! I can not wait to use it for all of my upcoming weddings!I love that I won't have to fumble with the legs every time I go to move it and it will be a lot easier to move it through set up reception tables (the big reason why I got it in the 1st place). It's a lot lighter than all of my other stands which is great! It will make it easier on me when setting up and packing up that way I won't have to make as many trips to the car.If there is a negative that others might be wondering about, but honestly it's a plus for my situation, it's not as sturdy as my other stands but that is what makes it lighter and perfect for use for my off camera flash. I won't be using it for other things.I look forward to using this and ditching my other stand!

Easy to lift and reposition stand with one hand.
This type of stand is helpful to photographers as it can quickly be picked up and moved without a lot of fidgeting. The legs do rattle and make noise when lifting the stand. I tried to remedy this by putting black electrical tape on the collapsible legs--didn't really help. All-in-all a great stand. I recommend the 10 ft. stand.

I love my Cheetah stands
I love my Cheetah stands. I accidentally left one on location and never recovered it, so I had to buy another. They are reasonable and work well. Since the legs are collapsible when you pick it up, you don't need to worry about carrying it around with the legs extended or loosening it every time you need to move around. You just pick up, it collapses and when you set it down, the legs extend. Cheetah products may not be the highest of quality, but they work very well. I love their flashes too.

Flimsy
pretty flimsy. I was not impressed. Thought it would be heavier duty....not sure I would trust it to hold my light/softbox when extended

Best light-stand I've used
This is my second one. Love it (them) very easy to move in a crowd, etc. Also just for moving anywhere. Lower it onto your toe when spreading out the legs to keep them from rubbing on the floor, grass, etc. I'm using them with speedlights (600EX RT) and umbrellas. 10' is a good height for what I need them for, shooting group shots and portraits. Very quick set up and tear down. I saw them in a training video online somewhere.

Fast and reliable with a high reach
These stands really are a game changer. Fast and reliable with a high reach. Especially good if working with an assistant who needs to grab the stand and go. I was tired of assistants struggling with tightening and loosening the base of stands or just neglecting to do that and maneuvering through crowds with the open legs. These are just fast and reliable. Worth the investment.
