Drive Tennis Ball Glides
Nice asset for my husband's walker indoors.

Don't even bother with actual tennis balls.
Forget the time consuming (not to mention dangerous) practice of attempting to cut into actual tennis balls with a sharp object only to find they won't fit the bottom of a walker leg securely. At $10.49 for two, these are worth every penny (as the cliche goes). I got these for my elderly mother's indoor walker. And while I'm generally opposed to fake things, I like the idea of these fake tennis balls because referencing the original tennis ball idea not only makes them stylish, but they function far better than actual tennis balls because they actually grip the walker legs securely. Also, instead of having to replace the whole thing when only the bottom wears out, you can replace just the bottoms with the Drive Tennis Ball Glide Pads (the wool/felt pads good for linoleum or wood floors), or the Heavy Duty TuffPads (the hard smooth plastic pads good for carpet or outdoors).

Fits Great with the Drive Walker
I purchased these drive tennis ball glides for my mom's walker that I bought (also from Amazon) because I wanted something that would easily slip on her front legs of her walker, be durable, glide easily, and I would have have to struggle with cutting holes in regular tennis balls and gluing or taping the balls on. These are pre-made to fit the legs of her walker and thus no struggle with fitting them. They work marvelously and when these wear out, if they do, I will definitely get another pair of these. While a regular tennis ball might be cheaper, these are much easier to use.

They work just fine. However they wear out to quick on the bottom where they rub on the floor or other surfaces.

This is our 2nd Set
The first set lasted about 20-24 months - was used mostly indoors - seems like most wear occurs when using them outside on parking lots to go in and out of an office or business.Easy to install & Remove - just friction fit on the legs. Had no issues with them staying on.

Well made. Not just a ball with slits. Has interior pieces to make sure the ball not only stays in place, but if, make that when, there is a failure your floors are still protected. Bought these for use after bypass surgery. Did not need a walker, so they stayed in the box. Seven months later had back surgery and do need to use my walker for a while. I put these on (very easy by the way). Walking in the house was a pleasure. However, today I went into the garage and walked about 20 feet. The bottom pads had holes (size is bigger than a dime) and one pad tore off. In the process of removing the one where the pad was now off, the whole thing fell apart, with the large inner piece falling out.Too late for an Amazon return, so called Drive (no phone number on any of the papers that came with the product. Now I must send proof of purchase AND pictures in order to get a replacement.Nice looking product that did not hold up (one day, that's it. And one must jump through hoops to get a replacement.

These are good but the instructions were not
The rehab center ordered a Drive Medical walker for me after my first knee replacement surgery in March. No one told me about slides, glides or tennis balls for the back legs of the walker. As a result, the walker became became super noisy soon after I recovered enough to walk outside. Walking outside was also part of my recovery routine. The noise made me a really bad neighbor. Now that I'm getting ready to have my left knee replaced, I did some research about controlling the noise. I soon realized that I had worn down the slides that came with the walker. I ordered these tennis balls and ski glides. Neither one came with useful instructions. I was able to install the tennis balls, I think. It wasn't easy. But I believe they will be a huge improvement. The very bottom of the balls can be replaced. I have no idea how to do that. The folks at rehab will take a good look at them for me, make adjustments and teach me.

A decent idea that fails in its execution
Check the caps on the feet of your walker before buying! I didn't: shame on me. Close examination showed that those plastic caps were epoxied to the legs. There's no way those are coming off without trashing the legs. Then I calipered the aluminum tubes: they're about 2 mm. too large for the hole in the Drive "balls." So these are useless for me.Now, here's what I saw.The plastic bottom of the ball is somewhat brittle and likely will crack and/or wear out quickly. On the other hand, the plastic is just soft enough to pick up all manner of abrasives from outdoors. Forget these if you have wood floors, unless you like to get your floors sanded and refinished every few weeks. If your floors are luxury vinyl, laminate or engineered hardwood, you're out of luck: think about replacement every so often. You're probably okay if you have wall-to-wall carpeting.I'm giving these three stars only because I see potential problems. I haven't actually experienced them.New and cheap tennis balls cost about 75¢ each, bought in bulk. Cut slits in these, then discard balls when they get icky or wear out. That's what I'm going to do from here on.

not as seen in pic
I needed this product for my husband's walker which has two wheels but the plastic "stubs' on the front were a little harsh. The walker would supposedly glide along better with these tennis ball glides. Unfortunately, the bottom of the balls (the portion that can be changed out and replaced), are not covered in felt. Without the felt, the product scratched the wood floors. I believe if the tennis balls were completely covered in felt, it would be a very good product and serve the purpose well.
