Gamakatsu - Octopus Hooks Size 6
I took some photos of a Gamakatsu size 6 hook because it is very difficult to buy hooks online. The all-purpose hooks are from Wal-Mart, and they are okay if you are on a budget. You can see from the pictures that the size 6 hook is for smaller fish. The other Gamakatsu hook is an aught 1/0. I included it to show the size difference.I received 50 Gamakatsu size 6 hooks for about $7 on Amazon, which seems cheap for the number of hooks. The Gamakatsu hooks are way better quality than the ones from Wal-Mart.

I put a dime in the photo so you could see how big #8 is.Edit: lots of people are saying they ordered a 10/0 hook and received a #10. Stop looking at the picture! Order the size you want from the selection. If the selection doesnt say 10/0 then you are going to get a 10. SMH

just the right size for the bluegill in my creek
But the huge carp straitened out one of the hooks some after a very long fight. i enjoyed the thrill and knew i didn't have the right set-up for him. glad the hook straitened befor my pole snapped because i wasn't willing to give up. cought a couple of medium to large (12-22 inch) carp and catfish on them but not the monster (at least for my creek).

Not what I thought I was ordering.
I needed barbless hooks and that's what I thought I was paying for because when I searched for hooks I searched for "Gamakatsu barbless octopus hooks". I didn't see that these were barbed, which is my bad, but honestly I wish they'd stop selling the barbed ones altogether. The barbless don't hurt the fish so much and are easier to remove. Still, Gamakatsu makes right strong hooks and these are very tough and springy. I thought about giving them away, but I'd rather just take them off the market altogether. I might take my grinder to them and just remove the barbs myself.
