i wanted: a lightweight, portable, capable machine for work, travel, and personal computing needs my uses: google sheets/docs (extreme), hoarding chrome tabs like they're toilet paper during a virus outbreak, youtube constantly running, messaging/emails, meetings and light mobile games all my work is done remotely, all through web applications and google suite. this is the perfect fit for me- no one winced when i used the built in mic in a meeting, i heard no echo back from my speakers which is amazing, because honestly heck putting on and taking off headphones every half hour. i can pick this up and take it with me to any room- it's lighter than my ipad. it charges fast- but with my eXtremE youtube usage, it also drains fast. who cares, it gets 7 hours more battery life than my gaming laptop (which gets 1). the bad: some apps really suck on this os. my understanding is that things have been steadily improving in chrome, so i look forward to further improvements. my biggest gripe at the moment is that slack doesn't allow me to ctrl+c text, or hover over emotes to see whether my boss contributed to the "LuL" faces collected under the joke i made at his expense (seriously this is important). both shortcomings are pretty frustrating on a surprisingly regular basis. i have to use the website which is dumb, because as i mentioned, i collect tabs basically for a living. my second gripe also has to do with the os: why does google drive suck in chrome? am i the only one copying and pasting things between sheets? am i the only one moving data from websites into docs and presentations? i feel like the only real time i'd use the app is if i'm creating a written doc with no supporting material. (or maybe google keep.) but, since my job almost never requires personal diary entries, that makes the apps useless, and the constant berating i get from the browser to use the app instead is equally annoying. big ups: keyboard, as mentioned by every reviewer with a youtube checkmark, is pretty darn sick. i type a lot and its solid as all get out. the build in general is very sturdy and quality. the whole thing reeks of "i spent my stimulus check on this chromebook", which i'm sure will win me cool points. i bought the base model, and even with my extreme tabby lifestyle i've yet to run into any processing issues, but i wish this model came in not pink. sad. very sad. very very very very very sad. two stars! just kidding, i love it anyway. ....but i wish it was pink. UPDATE: been using this as my daily driver for a month, it's on 24/7. It's doing great. copypasta on large spreadsheet data does make it have a big think, but i got the M3 not the i5 so maybe that's my own fault. Gave slack direct app feedback, they told me not to use the app. GGs. Still really wishing it were pink.

Great piece of hardware here. The entire outside is a lightweight metal that reminds me of magnesium, but I might be wrong. From pictures, I assumed that the ridged underside would be a glued-on rubber pad. Not the case. That' seems to be the same metal as the rest of the body. There are 2 rubber "strips" at the front and back to provide some grip, but most of the underside is metal (Good for heat dissipation, really neat design there). Thin laptops often have flimsy screens. When you go laptop shopping, test the screen for "flex". I don't like flex in my screens, and this passes with flying colors. The keyboard feels great. The trackpad is very responsive and works well. The click of the trackpad is a little on the loud side for my taste-- I wish it had been haptic feedback similar to the macbook pro. F keys are tricky. You can hold down the "application" button (where the caps lock lives) and use the top row as F1-F10. Need F11-F12? It's nowhere I could find on the support site. I had to start up a support chat to find that using the same application button combo, use the number keys F1-0 (F1-10) and then - = for F11 and 12. This works, but I don't like how hard I had to look to track down the info. I know that you can treat the top row as F keys by default as well, with the flip of a toggle in the settings. Chrome OS is good. I think it will get better. I'd like to see more of the trackpad gestures I learned to love on Macbooks. Three-finger-swipe to see virtual desktops would be a great start.

Laptop did not turn on. I placed the laptop on the charger for a complete full day (24hours). Turned on for 15 minute and will not turn on again. I attempted every technique on the internet and will not turn on. The customer service for Amazon was infuriating and unhelpful. Please go to a real store do not trust Amazon with laptops. This is not the first time this has happened with Amazon laptops. It's not worth the supposing savings. Go to Target, Best Buy or a local store. The specific seller of this laptop is a refurbish company and at this point I don't believe sells any brand new laptops. This one was clearly defective. I have to now take off work to sit at home and wait for UPS to pick it up. Now I am not only out of $350 but more than likely another $500 from being stuck at home away from my business for most of the day. DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP!!!!

This was my first Chromebook. I got the Pixel Go because it was rated so high. I have been in tech all my life and used many premium machines including the MacBook Pro and the Microsoft Surface. This is an outstanding machine. I love the simplicity of the ChomeOS. I don't have any complaints per say and overall it works well. Thoughts for improvement. 1) Add biometric access. The PIN helps (vs the PW), but I like the fingerprint reader on the Mac and my pixel phone. 2) If you open a ton of TABs in chrome at the same time (i.e.. run down the notifications in Facebook and cntl+click), the machine craps out and many tabs will fail to open. 3) The screen is really nice but not as nice as my wife's new MacAir (2020). Since they are only $100 apart ... 4) The battery life is good but not unbelievable. I was expecting more. In truth, it is an Intel i5 so I shouldn't be expecting much more than other OS systems (MAC and Windows) would yield. Overall, it is a good machine and I do like ChromeOS. It is simple and intuitive. I made a conscious decision to keep it. (update 3 months later) I really like both this hardware and the ChromeOS. I have always been a MS Office user and found switching to Google Docs to be effortless. Having a ton of experience on both Windows (all version) and MacOS, I find ChromeOS to be a delight to use. I respect Windows and MAC a lot and saying this is not a negative to them. I simply find this machine to be effortless. (update 6 months later) Enthusiasm for this machine has not waned. It is a very good machine. All the items I listed above still stand but on balance, the system is fantastic. I have come to truly appreciate the machine size and weight. It is near perfect in both dimensions. It is a lot like having an iPad with a great keyboard and will sit upright on your lap. I hope Google is engineering the Pixel Go 3 and beyond. No plans to upgrade, I just want to see the line kept alive for when I am! :)

Brilliant laptop! The build quality is top notch and everything from the keyboard and track pad to the full HD screen is a very pleasant and premium experience. I got the base model and I think for most people that's all you need unless you need more storage. Chrome OS is lightweight already, so the laptop has absolutely zero performance issues with it's configuration. The battery is stellar, I'm getting nearly 12 hours before having to charge, and it has fast-charging capabilities when you do have to. The only limitations are Chrome OS, which isn't a problem for me since I'm only using things like google docs and sheets for school. If you need programs for heavy photo or video editing or if you're planning to play anything more intense than an android game than this laptop isn't for you. But if you need a beautiful, fast and simple OS that allows you to answer emails, write a few documents and watch some Netflix with ease than look no further than this machine.

This machine has vastly exceeded my expectations. It's definitely not cheap, but the quality makes up for it. Build quality is impeccable, easily comparable to a $1000 Macbook. The screen although only 1080p is vibrant and bright enough to use outside. Oh, and it's a touch screen! Battery life is incredible. You can treat it more like an ipad than a traditional laptop. I charge this device once every few days rather than every night. Standby time is great as well. The keyboard and touchpad are also very nice. Enough key travel to be comfortable, but obviously not as good as a mechanical keyboard. The touchpad isn't the biggest, but it's very accurate and a joy to use. I bought the lowest end M3 version, but this thing absolutely flies. My daily work machine is a 2019 16" Macbook Pro and in normal use (web browsing, videos, document editing/viewing), I can't tell the difference in speed. I also have a gigabit internet connection at home and this device gets over 500mbps on wifi, the same as the Macbook. Oh, and google has FINALLY fixed the bluetooth issues that has plagued chromebooks for years. I was able to easily connect my Airpods Pro to this device, and they not only sound great, but connect flawlessly every time. Overall, if you're using this device as either a secondary device or just a office/browsing/media consumption device, I would recommend saving your money and getting the M3 version. It's more than enough.

While I have used Google Chrome extensively, I have never used a Chromebook until I got this. Have to say I absolutely love it, and it may replace my Macbook 12" as my preferred traveling computing device. 99% of what I use any computer for would be internet surfing & shopping, organizing photos, email, spreadsheets and word docs, videos, and media like Netflix or Amazon Prime, or managing home apps like Nest. You can easily do all of that on this device. I bought the base configuration with the m3 processor and 8 GB RAM. Pros: 1. Outstanding build quality - extremely solid, lightweight (maybe 2.3 lbs), NO body flex at all, and I really like the ribbed backside which seems less slippery than, say, my Macbooks. Very thin, and will easily fit into a laptop bag as a secondary computer if you travel (I travel for work). 2. Base m3/8 GB memory configuration seems very snappy and responsive. I cannot imagine needing an i5 or i7, which seem like overkill to me for this device. The m3 version should be more than adequate for the vast majority of users. 3. Boot-up is extremely quick, just a few seconds. After initial setup, which was very easy and quick and entirely guided, your Google password (same one you use for your gmail) will be your log-on password. 4. Screen is very clear and bright, and setting the slider several notches below highest brightness should be very satisfying for most people. The 1080p screen is very clear and sharp. I don't think you'll need the high-res screen, but if you do, you can only get it with the expensive i7 version. 5. Apps are easy to install, and things like Microsoft office apps, including Excel and Word, are available in the Google Play store, In fact, upon launching Excel and signing in with my Microsoft ID, all of my MS Office docs were immediately available even without installing One Drive. 6. Keyboard, speakers, and track pad are all top-notch and very comparable to what you'd find in any Apple offering. Key travel and softness are outstanding, one of the best keyboards I have used anywhere with accurate keystrokes. 7. Terrific integration - all of your Google Chrome bookmarks, apps, passwords, etc will immediately be ported over to this unit. If you've installed apps via Google Play on other devices, such as I did on my Samsung tablet, I was prompted to automatically install all of them here, including a bunch of games. Real time saver. 8. Learning curve on how to operate this device was very quick. Most functions are intuitive and a couple searches on the internet taught me how to perform functions I wasn't familiar with. Cons: 1. During setup or some forms of heavy use, you can feel a lot of heat on the bottom center of the unit towards the hinge with the keyboard. The heat issue seems to dissipate in normal use. 2. No SD card slot, so any external storage will have to be via a USB-C connection. The MS Surface laptops and even the Samsung laptops have nicely concealed micro-SD card slots for easily adding permanently-attached and hidden storage, which you cannot do with this. This device does have two USB-C connectors, one on each side. 3. The base 64 GB storage seems lacking, and would be nice if Google had made its base configuration 128 GB, or at least if they'd offered a 128 GB option for a reasonable price without being forced to move to an i5 processor, which to me seems unnecessary in this device, at least for my use. I have not experienced flickering, WiFi connectivity issues, etc as have been mentioned in some of the reviews. The device has been rock solid in terms of usability and connectivity. All in all, a great device that feels a lot more like a "real laptop" and a viable competitor to an Apple or MS device than I thought it would. You are not roped into using Google apps, and in fact can us MS Office apps just as you would on a Mac or Surface. I really like this little machine, and it's thin, lightweight, yet strong design with solid battery life make it a great travel companion.
