We have a shed with an inside side height of 72". Any way this will fit?

The four-bike stand is 82-1/5" tall (210cm). The vertical poles come in three sections. If you don't use the middle sections the stand is 57" tall (145cm). You probably can't hang four bikes on it if it is that short, but you could hang two and use the other hooks for helmets or something. Another option would be to saw a few inches off the middle poles and drill new holes for screws, but the poles are steel, so it might be a chore.

Will this work with two bikes with women's frames? The photo shows men's frames - which have the straight bar across instead of the angle.

Yes. I have my daughter's women's frame bike on one of them, although I have hers a little tilted downward because of the frame, so it doesn't look as straightforward as men's frames. That said, the supports are adjustable, and they have rubber covers to grip even at the odd angles, so it can handle women's frames.

Will this work on carpet as well?

I have mine on carpet and it works great.

How far does the stand come from the wall?

Not far. The top bar has a flat hunk of plastic (an inch or so thick) that must make direct contact with the wall. The legs curve forward a bit, and they probably sit about a foot from the wall, I reckon.
