Another great KH pet bed? NO! What happened?
These are quality, and cats and dogs love this bed. It cuddles, warms, and soothes, especially senior or cold sensitive animals. True to KH's promise, this bed does not "over warm" and is the safe alternative to human heating pads which can injure pets. Although they wash very well, they are a bit difficult to reassemble, but then I'm a klutz. After purchasing four KH pet beds, I would not hesitate to buy them again. Many paws up! ADDENDUM: I purchased the medium sized bed for my 15 year old cat, and he loved it, but the fluffy padding between the heating pad separated, and the bed became too hot for him and beneath the bed itself. It is not comfortable. I had to buy a 1/2" thick foam pad to place on top and cover that with a light blanket to make it acceptable. KH makes super cat beds and cat warming pads which are well padded and comfortable. This is a real disappointment that their quality has apparently declined.

Great bed
Our dog, about 21 lbs. absolutely loves this bed! I was skeptical that she would even try it but I was wrong, once she got in it she only gets out of it if she has a reason. Highly recommended!!

Happy with a modification
My dog is enjoying this, and my cat got jealous so I bought a second one. Here's the only issue: it doesn't get warm unless something is on top of it (like a dog as designed) and my dog won't use a dog bed unless there's blankets on top and won't use it unless it's on our bed in the corner. She's an Italian greyhound, so an always cold and must always be right where I am. When it has a blanket on top the bottom gets about 130 degrees, so I took a reptile thermostat I had laying around and snaked the sensor through the Velcro at the bottom so it turns off when it hits 100 degrees, and therefore doesn't burn my dog or mattress and I can keep a blanket on it without worrying. The second one we keep on top of the dog crate for the cat and it stays at a much lower temp without a blanket on top and some air circulation below, which is great for the cat. I think involving a thermostat in the bed itself would make it more functional for dogs who like to snuggle under things, but otherwise it is keeping my older critters warm and comfy and both beds get used daily.

Smallish, medium sized short-haired dogs, particularly Basenjis will love this
This put out a very small amount of heat, but after all, it is being used inside. Heidi can always be found sitting in sunny spots or in front of heaters. I was afraid she was getting too hot! This bed is perfect if she is in it for a few minutes it will feel warm if you put you hand under the pillow. Basenjis are not huge dogs, averaging 20 to 30 pounds, but I got the large size and was glad I did. I think the medium is for a slightly smaller dog. It is a bit on the light-weight flimsy side. The worst thing being the pillow moves around too easily. They have used a couple large squares of Velcro to hold it in. I will be adding a few more. The good news is that unlike the higher end one I bought years ago, this one does not have a bulky transformer to plug into an outlet. Just a regular power cord. I gave it five stars because it is much safer, and I think she will be healthier and happier.

Poorly designed heated bed
Horrible dog bed. No padding on bottom, small pillow hooked with velcro to bed and not big enough for 17# dog to lay on. K&H makes a lot of dog beds and are poor quality. They also don't add the black chew proof electric cords. Keep looking and you will find better, safer, heated dog beds.

cozy warmth for two small dogs
My dogs and cats all adore K&H products heated pet beds enough that I have several. They use them year round, but especially in the fall and winter. The beds get warm from pressure and only heat to slightly above room temperature so you don't have to worry about it being on all day or your pet getting too hot like with an electric blanket. This item is a great size along with having soft sides my dogs can snuggle into. They both easily share this bed with room to spare. The cats like this bed also, but never get to use it, as the chihuahuas spend all day in it. Of the four styles of K&H heated beds that I have, this one is by far my favorite.
