Yes. Fairy lights won't get hot enough to melt them. A dishwasher using hot water will melt them. This is an excellent brand. I ordered different brands and returned other orders because the tops were too sharp. No problem with this brand! They look realistic, too.

I m not sure what you mean by "how does it work?" I can say that these disposable wine glasses are wonderful. They are sturdy and work well in large gatherings. They are the most elegant disposal glasses I have ever purchased. I recommend them highly.
