One 3.5 ounce bottle (100 grams) of Houttuynia herb, concentrated extract powder. The 5:1 ratio means that it is 5 times stronger than straight powder. This powder does contain a small amount of dextrin (corn starch) to keep it from clumping and to regulate the 5:1 ratio. The Botanical name is Houttuynia Cordata. Yu Xing Cao is the Pin Yin name, which translates into English literally as "fishy-smelling herb." Fresh cut stems have a strong odor, but the smell disappears when dried. Houttuynia has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to clear heat and toxins, and to reduce swellings and abscesses. It is particularly beneficial to the Lung and Large Intestine channels. This herb is discussed in the book Healing Lyme, by Stephen Buhner. Consult an herbalist or acupuncturist for guidance.
