GREAT FOR BJJ!
I'm 5'10", 245 lbs, Latin guy with large thighs... I've always hated wearing knee pads because either they didn't have the grip and they'd always ride down my leg or were too tight/movement restrictive. Well my search has come to an end... these stay in place, provide the necessary support/cushion and are holding up very well. SIZING - According to the Venum site, you measure the circumference of your thigh, 10cm (3.93701 inches) up from the bottom of your knee cap. I rounded up and measured 4in from the bottom of knee cap, which came to 19in (48.26cm). The sizing goes MED 37-38cm (14 - 14 1/2 in), LG 39-40cm (15 to 15 1/2 in) and XL 41 and over (16 in and more), based on this I ordered an XL. When I first got them, they were pretty tight and hard to get on, it took a few training sessions to loosen them up but they are now just right, very comfortable and easy to put on and off.

Size
They fit alittle small. Definitely size up. I got extra large for my sone and they wouldn’t go over his calves.

Great Knee pads but wear out quick
I have to say I really do like these knee pads for the following reasons: They absorb impact well for takedowns and they stay in place during the roll. I'm about 6'1" and weigh 255lbs and ordered the XL. My only issue is they started to tear at the seams after about 7-8 training sessions which is why I dropped it down a star.

Great protection
Wore these for firefighter 1 training saved my knees up intil the last day when sweat and rubbing finally wore through a bit. Was very happy with their performance over many of the other ones people wore. They stay in place and fit under most items. My only complaint is when sweaty, which they always get, they are hard to get off.

To make things worst I couldn't return them because I was in an ...
They were not sized well at all. They were marked a XL and I couldn't get them up over my calf. To make things worst I couldn't return them because I was in an accident and by the time I was out of the hospital the time that I could return them had passed. But nobody cares if you have a life changing issue that keeps you from meeting the return dates.I have been buying from Amazon forever and have ever returned anything and the one time I wanted to, I was told NO

The gel inside these knee-pads are wonderful! I'm able to practice for a month then ...
I was praying that these knee-pads would help out with the severe pain I have in my knees while being a student of Jiu Jitsu. They did help and I was able to roll for a little longer period of time but they just couldn't cushion my personal knee problems. The gel inside these knee-pads are wonderful! I'm able to practice for a month then need 2 months off for recovery. If anyone has any other ideas I'd be open to hearing them.

Love these
I use these for BJJ and for striking practice. For BJJ, they provide extra padding for my knees that I find helpful. For striking practice, I throw a lot of knees and I like the extra protection so that I can hit the bag with intention during my practice.

Excellent knee pads
Good solid knee pads. They stay up during sparring and last well with out stretching out or become loose. Easy to clean.
