Don't Go Anywhere Without it
When I bought my Sony Alpha SLT-A57 camera, I knew that I would be able to figure out how to use it. But I wanted to use it effectively. That led me to buy the EXCELLENT full-size David Busch Sony Alpha SLT-A57 Guide. However, the guide was too big to take on the go, so I bought this one. It fits well in my backpack camera bag, and it goes with me everywhere for quick reference. It doesn't have everything that the larger book has (obviously), but it has enough information for quick reference.By the way, I suggested the David Busch guide to a friend who bought a Sony NEX-7, and he found the guide excellent for his use also!

David Busch's Compact Field Guide for the Sony Alpha SLT-A57/A37
Compact size booklet, spiral-bound, heavy weight paper stock, enlarged, illustrative color photos, and proper use of the illustrations with graphics characterize some of the immediate observations. Later, one notices the clarity, organization of topics and author's excellent stylistic manner of expression. I think this is a great accompaniment to the SONY a57-why can't SONY do this, or just hire David Busch to do this since It would serve as a complement to the purchase of this great, feature-rich camera. Finally, the guide is logically arranged into chapters so as to give the entry or mid-level photographer proper use of this camera, and all its wonderful capabilities.

Much better than the owners manual !!
This book methodically reviews all your camera's functions with pictures. My only criticism is that I would have liked a book dedicated to my A57. That way, I could read the book without thinking 'is that my button or not'.But, all in all, this book is better than the Sony manual. I recommed it to anyone who wants a quick reference to understanding and utilizing the potential of their A57/A37 camera.

clarity
Got the book within days of my order. It is in an easy to understand format and makes the process of learning just so much easier. Learning of course is all about the student and how he or she applies what is described. This book is exactly the reference material I needed for a first time camera owner and over 50. Yes if you want to start with the Sony A57 and learn all that it has to offer this Compact field guide is well woth it to get the most out of your camera.

I ordered the wrong one
Ok, so here's how goofy I was. I ordered this book right after I bought the Sony A 65. This was the wrong book for my camera. When I went to Amazon to return the book they were more than helpful, and now I have the right one coming. I have the full-sized book by David Busch for the A65 and it is extremely helpful. The field guide is smaller, lighter and will come in handy when I'm out taking pictures. It fits better in the camera bag. I have no complaints at all.

A very good and easy to understand guide book
I found this guide for the Sony Alpha SLT-A57 easier to understand than Sony's Instruction Manual. The illustrations are clear and go very well with the text. It helped me get off to a good start using my first DSLT. It is also proving to be a good field guide when I need a quick review. It's a helpful book to have with this camera which offers so many modes and features.

A much needed book to my growing library
This is just what I needed to get my A77 up and running. David Busch's know his Cameras and I could have not find a better instructor to buy a first time book on my Sony a77. This is a great manual to start your library off with and to get to know your Sony Camera. He takes his time to make sure you understand all you need too. Not taking anything for granted that you my even be a first timer with no experience using a DSLR Bubba1

I would start here....
I have both books for my camera, the much larger and expensive one, and this one. I feel this one hits all of the highlights and is so much easier to keep with you. If you feel you need more AFTER you purchase this one, then spend the extra money to get the more inclusive one. Bottom line is that you are going to want this one regardless. It is a great resource book to have with you at all times.

Scaled down manual
This is a scaled down version of his book. The information appears to be key data from the manual and not what I wanted. I misunderstood this book to be a step by step guide which explained how to techniques, it's not, it just explains basic function. I wanted a book that explains if you use this setting with that filter on this exposure you get the stunning effect you desire, am I asking too much? I'm not an idiot, but if you are a complete beginner as I am you need a simplistic guide to help you on the way.

Makes it so much easier
A well written guide easy to follow and use as a reference. Any problems I have had with my camera this guy has got it listed in one of the chapters. The book well laid out and easy to follow. David adds a little humour here and there to lighten the load a little. its not the sort of book to carry around with you on a shoot its too heavy so you need perhaps to make notes. Its a very good book and well worth reading in stages. It has helped me tremendously to understand the complexities of the Sony A77. Recommeneded

Guide to Sony A37
This book is very good and has many handy pieces of advice. As usual the camera's handbook was next to useless, just stating that button "A" was button "A", and so on, simply giving the names to each button. There is a lot of very useful information in this Field Guide, and the great part is that it fits easily in to the camera bag. A bring everywhere guide.

Excellent
A great little reference guide to have with you in a very handy size. So easy to use too with its Spiral Binding, pages lay open flat without you having to hold it open. All A37/A57 owners should have one.David Busch does it well.

If your new to photography then it's fine but if you want to get a real feel ...
Very basic info. If your new to photography then it's fine but if you want to get a real feel for the features of the camera or any photography advice then you won't need it.
