this stuff is seriously good in soups
Yummmmmmm.......this stuff is seriously good in soups, salads, mashed potatoes, etc!!! Just add a touch of oil and salt to the mix and it is scrumptious!! I have a hard time holding back from using scoop after scoop of savory cheesy flavor. I really don't miss cheese much at all after not eating it anymore, especially having stuff like this around! There are also yummy vegan cheese recipes online made using nutritional yeast. Casein in cheese is addictive, which is why a lot of people want to eat cheese so much. Dairy is acidic and actually leaches calcium/minerals from our bones and cheese is of course fattening and full of cholesterol-not to mention the cruelty involved with so many dairy farms. It might take a little getting used to for those not used to it, but well worth it! It's super high in B vitamins-think energy, mood support, skin and hair health among other things. It's an excellent source of B12 and selenium, etc. which are vital to make sure you get reliable bio-available sources since soil where it would normally come from is often depleted of it. Non vegans often don't get enough either. I notice after eating a few tbs. of this my pee is bright yellow (maybe too much information). I also notice my mood and overall energy is better when this happens. Only wish it was organic ;)

Adds great flavor and nutrition
After seeing yeast flakes in a TV health program, I bought some in bulk from WF and liked them so well, I decided to try these. The container is huge and will last a long time. It is more economical to buy them this way, far easier to store and I feel like the quality will be more consistent. The health program showed them being sprinkled on popcorn so I tried that and found the addition so delicious, I started using them lots of places. I've sprinkled them on steamed vegetables, over the top of cheese biscuits, on salad and pasta to name but a few possibilities. They really enhance the flavor as well as providing great vitamin B.Years ago my mother routinely ate yeast cubes that tasted awful, but she lived to 96. She was a health foody before her time. I've never been game for those dreadful cubes, but this is an option that tastes great in a cheesy, sort of nutty way. Since the flavor tastes a bit salty, I've found I can reduce the amount of salt I use as well--added benefit. Although this container will hold me for quite a while, I'll definitely rebuy.

My favorite
I’ve tried a few brands of nutritional yeast, and this one tastes the best to me. No salt content, but still with a mild saltiness that the other brands haven’t had. And of course a great vitamin profile! Really helps me get my vitamins from a food source. Awesome on salads and popcorn!!

It sounded way too healthy and just did not sound good to me
When I first started vegan/vegetarian cooking and saw that a few recipes called for "yeast flakes", I thought no way will I ever resort to THAT kind of thing. It sounded way too healthy and just did not sound good to me, in any way. But somewhere along the line I ended up with a package of this stuff because my daughter wanted vegan mac & cheese and not the nasty frozen kind. The things we do for our kids. . . It turns out the recipe, which I found online somewhere, was actually good. Really good. So good I make it at least twice a month and it’s fooled their friends who think it’s real mac & cheese. Once I used this stuff, I realized it added lots of cheesy flavor and now I always have a container of it in the cabinet. I use it all the time ground up with cashews and a clove of garlic to make a faux parmesan cheese, sprinkled over kale when dehydrating it, in a recipe called Kalefredo (I know, I’ve gone off the deep end with this) and in the mac & cheese (of course) and no longer think it’s gross. I wouldn’t exactly eat it by the spoonful but I can’t deny that I will never be without it now that I’ve realized that healthy cooking can be better than the original version. This is a good sized container that lasts me a few months and stays fresh until I use it up.

Delicious and nutritious! A very detailed review.
First of all, this is a HUGE package of Nutritional Yeast Flakes.Reasons I am happy that I bought this brand if Nutritional Yeast:1. Taste...It is the best tasting Nutritional Yeast that I ever used! In my opinion, the flakes taste similar to cheese, maybe even a buttery taste.2. NUTRITION: It has 9 grams Protien (18 percent daily value), B vitamins, including B12...More than 100 percent daily. High values of other vitamins and minerals. Twenty percent of daily fiber value. No fat, no Cholesterol.3 Cooking...When I cook with these flakes, my foods have more color and taste delicious. Why did I purchase this? I am a Semi Vegan (I eat egg whites, no meat and lots of plant based foods) and need Vitamin B's, especially Vitamin B12. Also I like the 18 percent daily value of protein. I also eat lots of beans, However, I add at the serving of 3 tablespoons to my beans so I get the added protein.I also add 1.5 to 2 tablespoon to 4 egg white that I scramble.I recommend this to you whether you are a Vegan it not. If you want added nutrition, then this is a delicious and low cost way to get better nutrition.

The Thinking Man's guide to nutritional yeast
I got this for one reason only: it is an ingredient in an interesting crispy roast potato recipe I watched and wanted to try. BUT, we (wife of 49.8 years) washed up on the beach over 50 years ago that had us farming in our backyards, keeping mounds of seething garbage in the backyard, and driving hundreds of miles over fascinating, but sometimes challenging National Highways, to buy THIS VERY STUFF. And it tastes exactly the same! Love between meself and the girl that I married, rekindled with a smokey gaze over spoonfuls of Stonyfield Farms yoghurt, Pennsylvania maple syrup, and nutritional yeast. Whew! I know I'm getting close to the edge of what's acceptable in the public forum, but I must say that this culinary experience suggests, possibly, a fulfilling event of closeness that might have been piqued by this delicious, pungent nutritional yeast.
