So easy but with wonderful results....
Amazingly, this product surpasses its claims! Not only does my hair look natural, with varying depths of colors throughout, it actually feels better after I've colored it with Natural Instincts. So soft. A bonus is that the included tube of conditioner will last for another one or two washes—depending on your hair length, of course. I've had so many compliments! Women, of a wide range of ages, usually begin by asking if it's my natural color. When I admit it isn't, most say they're going to try Natural Instincts right away. I've used several of the Natural Instincts' colors, but 7GR Light Golden Red, is by far my personal favorite. The little "lift" coloring with it gives, really makes me feel good! I don't mean that to sound trite, but I think every woman knows that feeling of just being happy with how your hair looks. And, for those of you who might not have colored your own hair before, Natural Instincts is the perfect product for your first try! First, they have a very easy to use photo chart on the side of the box. The heading outlines the natural color range that particular Natural Instincts' color will produce the best results on. For example, dark blonde to medium brunette. Then, the chart gives you a visual of the result. Quite simply, if your current color is this—this is what your hair will look like afterwards. So straightforward and it really gives you confidence you've chosen the right color. Second, everything you need is in the box. Third, the coloring itself is as easy as can be. Mix the two bottles together and then work through your hair from roots to ends. Ten to fifteen minutes later (depending on whether you have any grays), you're ready to wash it out. It's that easy and takes about the same time it would if you were using a hair conditioning treatment. Lastly, the fact that it's not a permanent color gives you a built in safety net. Add in their fantastic color consultants helpline, and you can't go wrong. I really do love it! By the way, if you have very long hair as I do, you'll want to buy two boxes to ensure thorough coverage. My hair is more than half way to my waist. Happy coloring!

Spiced Tea? More like a dark red...
I love Natural Instincts, and this is the third time I've dyed my hair with it. I have medium-tone golden-red brown hair (about shoulder length) as it is, but have always wanted to be ginger - this being the lightest red NI offers, I thought I'd give it a shot. Application was easy as pie, as usual, and I left it on a little longer than recommended because I have so much hair. When my hair dried, the color was a beautiful dark red with ginger undertones - not a completely natural look, but I'm sure that it will fade into one. It's not too much different from my normal shade, actually. However, I was hoping for a much more orange-y color (as I'm trying to get my hair to be almost a coppery color). Hopefully it will fade into one! Overall, it's a nice color and I love the brand, but it's not as bright as it is on the box.

Great shine and color!
The picture is of Golden Sienna 7GR (Light Golden Red) Golden Sienna is a lovely shade of dark strawberry blonde. I have naturally medium/dark brown hair with blonde salon highlights. I was looking for something to gradually blend my growing-out highlights while also covering some stray grays. The color is very subtle on my darker hair, but I really like the punch of color it gave to my highlights. It did not cover my stray grays underneath as much as I’d hoped (maybe I could use two boxes?) but I’m happy with the color and the shine that it gave my hair. I have also used the Spiced Tea 6.5R (Light Auburn) and it is a much more vibrant red than the 7GR. Do not freak out if the color is not flattering on you, it will fade drastically as you wash it! This is good if you are just experimenting with a shade. If the color is way too potent, just wash it a few times in a row and condition really well. You'll be surprised at how much the color will lighten and you might love it. If your hair is lighter, it will hold on to some color. When I have highlights, those strands of hair never go back to the blond shade they started as after using any shade of Natural Instincts. But I do that on purpose to blend them as they grow out. Natural Instincts is a fun, non-committal solution if you're looking to cover grays, blend dark roots, or try some different shades! It is very helpful to know if warm or cool shades flatter you best. If your skin is a warm shade (olive, golden, yellow undertones), cool hair shades usually look best, so look for C (cool) or A (ash) after the number. If you have cool skin with pink undertones or tend to flush easily, warm shades usually flatter, so look for W (warm) or G (gold) after the number on the box. This makes a big difference!

Long hair = 2+ boxes minimum!
I am naturally a dirty blonde and my hair hadn't been dyed in several years prior to this little experiment. I thought I would try this before taking the leap to red permanent color. The parts of my hair that this worked on did look beautiful - a nice, soft, light auburn - but alas, that was like maaaybe a quarter of my hair. It didn't even touch the gray/white streak at my temple and actually made it stand out more. To be fair, I only used one box and almost definitely should have used two. (I have long, thick hair.) My hair was incredibly soft and shiny afterward which was nice, but over all I was disappointed with the outcome.

My favorite. Easy, quick, inexpensive, and I get more compliments than I did after paying $150 to my hair stylist.
