| Directions | Just dip and read to measure aquarium pH in one easy step. In new aquariums, pH should be tested before fish are added. If necessary, adjust the pH with API pH UP, pH DOWN, or PROPER pH. In established aquariums, pH should be tested weekly since natural materials in the aquarium (such as fish waste and uneaten food) can cause pH changes. Accurate pH tester for fish water
Really happy I purchased these ... after learning via PetSmart that our tap water was super low pH due to a shallow well which apparently killed our betta fish after 7 days. I got these to test our water with conditioner (yes, I was too lazy to take another sample to the store and I'm pretty sure they use these same strips). I also wanted to test our bottled spring water, which is what I use for our new fish (no added conditioner on my part). I learned with these sticks that our tap water, with or without added conditioner, is very low pH and our jug of spring water is perfect. Our fish is still alive (and very active) so I'm thinking these testers are very accurate. I may never need 20 of these but for $6 I'm glad I have them ... if we move, get a saltwater tank etc. Overview-you take a strip, swirl it twice in the water, don't shake off and wait 30 seconds (I found waiting a bit longer was more accurate). The color is a little off if you look 5 minutes later so don't wait too long). Done. Easy and accurate.

Still work two years later, seem to be accurate
I started using these as a quick and easy test for the hospital tank I set up. It comes back 0 when it makes sense. It also tested higher values which made sense as well: 1) anemone looked like it was going to die in my display tank, I put it in my hospital tank before leaving for the weekend. Sadly it died. I tested the water when I got home and it was maxed out on the chart for ammonia (makes perfect sense for dead nem) 2) I had a firefish die in the QT tank - must have been overnight. For a much smaller fish, having died recently, it reading around a .5 was probably reasonable and showed it could detect some mid range results as well I wish they were cheaper but they seem to be a fairly worthwhile rapid test. I’m ordering another set now

These don’t work, but it’s not the sellers fault.
When I purchased these I was hoping my life as a fish mom would be made a bit easier, but it wasn’t. I was confused by the plastic covering the test part of the strip, and so I called the company that makes this product to ask about it. From the mouth of the representative I spoke with, the plastic on the top of the test square is intentionally placed. It is done this way so that the reactive chemical on the strip to test for ammonia, is not over exposed. This is not done to protect the pad before use, so peeling it apart/open is not intended/recommended. Apparently the water you're testing is meant to seep through the open sides of the strip when you expose it, and then give you a reading after the mentioned wait time. However I tried this multiple times, and saw no changes to the strips when compared to unexposed tests or after ripping off the plastic covering and retesting. I have since decided to return these for a refund and chose to buy from aquarium co-op instead, as they sell a version that not only works accurately but comes in a 100 count for less money. Lastly for those also curious like I was, the ammonia test strips are made separately from the 5 in 1 test strips as the chemical to test for ammonia would produce incorrect results for the rest of the things you’re testing for with the 5 in 1 one strips. It’s not just for marketing purposes…you’re welcome.

Work fine
I liked these strips, no different than any other name brand. Did the job I expected.

I aint sure it is measuring anything. Use is easy but i am not sure the band really interacts with the water in an efficient way. But the fishes are alive.

I bought these along side API 5 in 1 strips so I would be able to read all the necessary water quality readings. They seem pretty accurate so far, and are super easy and quick to use. I love these compared to the liquid ones with drops of chemicals. Way faster and way easier to read! I would definitely recommend these for water testing!

Convenient, accurate as tested against API master liquid test kit and results are fast. Helps keep your fish healthy by monitoring and quickly checking ammonia levels. Although they are expensive and I would recommend a liquid test kit over these but good to have if in a rush and you don’t have time to get your master test kit out.

Bought these as well as the ammonia test kit. Didn't know which one I'd like best .both are good and very accurate.
