Lego Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary

Phenomenal Content and Images by DK; Excellent Collector's Guide
First of all, I want to thank Brickset for their excellent review of this new visual masterpiece by Dorling Kindersley. I cannot wait to actually obtain this book and the Throne Room Luke minifigure included. I have viewed the book more than once in a bookstore and I have read portions online and in the store, so I believe that I do know a fair amount about the material within the book. I would like to point out for the benefit of Lego Star Wars collectors such as myself that the authors of the book have undergone valiant and worthy efforts to satisfy the interests of collectors. Throughout the book, the differing variations of a number of minifigures, such as Boba Fett, Han Solo, and Emperor Palpatine, have been described with careful attention to detail. For example, in the "Emperor Palpatine" spread, a short blurb notes that the Palpatine figure in "Imperial Inspection" has a gray face and gray hands, while a similar Palpatine in "Death Star" has a gray face and black hands, an important distinction for collectors. On the same spread, however, the book fails to mention that the Stormtroopers in "Imperial Inspection" have special printing on the legs which is unique to the Stormtroopers in this set. Despite this minor discrepancy, the book is complete and beautiful in almost every respect, including sections at the end to discuss how the sets are produced, the Ultimate Collector's, Technic, and miniature sets, and even an interviewer with a set designer and master builder. This book is well worthy of one's money, whether he/she is a collector or is interested in Lego, Star Wars, or any other fantastical aspect of the science fiction and toy universe.

excellent book
i purchased this for my son. it arrived quickly in excellent packaging materials. it was in excellent condition. the book is just what it says - a visual dictionary of star wars lego designs. it is made of high quality paper. the photography is also very good - it's not always easy to take meaningful pictures of legos, but they managed to do so here. it is well designed, logical. i spent about an hour paging through it and marveling at some of the workmanship that i wouldn't have been able to do when i was a child. the price of this book has been reduced dramatically since it first came out - it is now very affordable and, in my opinion, is worth the price if not more. it comes with one lego character. i give everything i review a grade, and this product is worth a solid "A". i wouldn't change a thing. i recommend this for individuals with an interest in star wars, lego products, especially those with an interest in both. it's certainly not like a traditional library book but it is certainly something that lots of children would want and it is a book that pulls "non-readers" into the world of reading - as such, i recommend this book for children's libraries and public school libraries - just take out the luke character first. as it is mostly images, it's great for younger kids. it's also great for parent - child bonding.

if you like LEGO Star Wars, this book is for you
My son's friend got a copy of this book, and upon seeing it myself, I knew we had to have our own copy. In our house, we are all huge Star Wars fans, and huge LEGO fans. Put the two together? Done! What we love about this book - all of the amazing information it has about the different Lego sets, the stories behind them, the little bits of trivia, and the lovely, full colour photos. Yes, there could have been even more photos and such - but maybe there will be more even more detailed books like this in the future - which we will happily purchase. The fact that it comes with a special Luke minifig is also a wonderful bonus - and great marketing on LEGO's part.LEGO is one product I really don't mind spending money on - it is well made and the directions are great and many creative minds have gone into the whole process - a fact that is wonderfully outlined in the back of the book - we loved reading about what does into creating these LEGO sets and how fun a job it is to be a designer.I look forward to more books like this in the future. We definitely recommend this for fans!

Can't get enough of it....diehard Lego Star Wars lover!
This is a beautiful book!Title: The Visual Dictionary....of all the Lego Star Wars items out on the market! This book is organized very well. The book has 4 chapters: 1.Movie Saga, 2. The Clone Wars, 3. Specialists Sets, 4.Beyond the Brick (96 pgs total)It has pictures of all of the Star Wars Legos that have come out so far. There is a time-line that tells when each of the items came out, year by year and also episode by episode The pictures and descriptions are clear and colorful. Each of the Lego sets has a picture, the Lego #, number of pieces and the film episode. What more can you ask for?The book is hardbound and the cover has about an inch thick insert where the mini-figure is stored. This makes the book appear thicker than it actually is. I wasn't expecting that but the book is still nice and thick and full of great information for any Star Wars lover.A Great buy for under 15 bucks! This is a keeper for sure for my 7 yr old son who will be thrilled on his Birthday!

molto bello

AWESOME BOOK
My son really loves this book. He uses this book to look up different sets and compare to the ones he has now. I am hoping that Lego will soon update this book to include sets thru 2012. I recommend this book to all lego fans.

Great dictionary - comprehensive and well illustrated
I had been waiting for a guide to the Lego Star Wars collections and thankfully one has arrived that delivers in almost all areas. The guide itself is well illustrated and is very up to date (includes sets that were brought out in August 2009)The 96 pages may not seem much considering the volume of lego sets/figures that have been churned out since 1999. However the pages are filled with each set, when it was released and its product ID. The layout is also by chronology (what sets were released and when) and by each film. it also provides a good insight (aka 'Brick facts') into certain characters. This book is not for those looking for 'what is the most rare, the most collectible', nor does it go into detail on ALL of the figures available. It does however illustrate the sets that have been released, shows what some of them do, and obviously what figures come with them. The books also includes and exclusive Luke Skywalker mini figure !Overall a good overview, well illustrated, great for all ages. One cannot wait to see something similar for Lego Batman and Indiana Jones.......
