Franny's: Simple Seasonal Italian Hardcover – June 4, 2013

I've made it a hobby over the years to collect unique but practical cookbooks. Franny's has been a great addition. I've not been to Franny's, but the book is written in a way that definitely makes you want to book a reservation. I love cookbooks that combine great recipes, beautiful pictures and importantly story-telling that gives a bit more insight into chefs, restaurants and cuisine. Franny's cookbook does that nicely. The home-made pizza recipes are wonderful, and practical for any at-home cook. The book also dedicates a ton of space to at-home charcuterie, which is not my thing, but I appreciate it as a cooking enthusiast nonetheless.

This cookbook is fabulous, and much larger and more inclusive than I anticipated when ordering it. It spans their entire rotating menu, from starters to pasta to pizza to dessert to drinks!Their Brooklyn restaurant features pizzas and other Italian fare that is amazingly delicious and surprisingly simple, and a favorite of mine and my husband's. I'm very excited to be able to bring some of their tips and recipes into my own cooking.We made "Spaghetti with Herbs and Ricotta" last night using ingredients from our fridge and garden, and it was quick and very satisfying.Most recipes have beautiful color photos. This is a must-have addition to your natural foods cookbook collection, and/or a great gift for creative Italian food lovers.

When I consider the value of a cookbook I look for several elements, is it inspiring and creative? Does it provide interesting recipes that can be accomplished at home? Is it well written and photographed? This book hits all the marks. I particularly enjoy reading about the different pairings they make for relatively common items like pizzas and pasta dishes. The book is also printed in the newer format with no dust jacket which makes it more user-friendly in the kitchen.

Painstakingly written by the owners of the iconic Franny's in Brooklyn, NY, this masterpiece will grab your attention from the first time you open it. Beautifully illustrated to whet your appetite, the recipes are fully diversified. Making pancetta from scratch. Pesto sauce with Tuscan kale. Pizza dough from scratch. Making your own sausage. All the way to complex pasta and seafood and meat recipes. And a full array of gourmet pizzas. A wood burning oven helps, but they will show you how to use a conventional oven and pizza stone. Amazing desserts, too. Not really a cookbook. An adventure...

I have read and used A LOT of Italian cook books. This one has a lot of good ideas, especially in the sections on small bites and crostini . If you are a pizza lover and are brave enough to give it a serious try at home -- a questionable enterprise in my apartment kitchen -- this has all the recipes you need. Solid work.

Great tasting recipes , have tried about eight so far, quick easy prep. Love itWould recommend for the person who wants e z to understand and also to get ingredients almost anywhere.Have purchased some recipe books over the years and wonder where do you find these ingredients or how to make food for twenty or more people. You probably all know the authors of the books.Franny's is easy to understand and easy to get the ingredients in almost any store.

This is as carefully and beautifully produced a book as Franny's is as a restaurant. I've been reading it from cover to cover, treasuring the text and the recipes, and recommending it to friends as well as giving it out as gifts. Franny's is one of my most favorite places, and even though we live too far away to go there weekly, it's great to be able to visit it "virtually" through the book and the recipes. A must-have for your cookbook collection!

I bought this book because I read that the gelato recipes were worth the price of the book. I have made two flavors of the gelato and they were easy to prepare and had great taste. I can't wait to make the remaining gelato recipes.

Great book. So many wonderful ideas and I loved reading the small interviews with the staff. The recipes are home friendly and the gelato recipes are fantastic.
