Excellent carrier for our cat. She has room to move around or to lie comfortably. It is quite easy to strap in place due to the vent holes on the sides. We travel often and this carrier has become our cat’s safe place in each new place we stay and in the car.

The top opens so that it is easy to place your dog or cat in the crate. This crate is easy to carry. The material that this rate is made of is very strong and will protect your pet. There are plenty of holes for plenty of air to circulate inside the carrier. The price of this carrier is very reasonable. The material on the carrier is very strong and durable. The carrier's functionality is excellent and the shape and size of the carrier is very reasonable. The material that the carrier is made of is very thick and will last a long time.

I bought one EXACTLY like this 17 years ago. Kid you not. These are incredibly well constructed and built to last. Terrific value and ample room for my cat. It could also be used for a small dog, but I wanted something roomy for my cat. The top loading functionality is great and very convenient. I highly recommend this carrier, it’s perfect and sturdy. The bolts that attach top to bottom of unit equal the quality of overall structure. Not flimsy in any way. I leave this out with a blanket inside so my cat is used to it being around. Not uncommon to find him sleeping in it of his own accord , it’s that comfortable for them. Great product with a great price, on sale or otherwise, it’s well worth it.

About a year ago, my boyfriend and I adopted a six month old kitten and of course, we needed a carrier for her, so we got a smaller Petmate carrier. As she grew, we realized it was getting a little small for her. We took her on a trip to Florida in it and although she could lay down fine, there was absolutely no room for her to stand. When we adopted our second kitten last September, we knew that we had to get something bigger so we could put both of the cats in it if we needed to. At the end of November, we decided we were going to Minnesota for Christmas and were bringing the cats with us, so I got on Amazon and started looking at carriers. We were debating between this and the Aspen Pet Taxi Fashion Kennel, also by Petmate, because it was a bigger version of our old one. Both of the carriers we looked at were of the larger size, NOT small. The size of this carrier was the 24". We liked the Aspen Pet Taxi because it had two compartments on the top for holding treats, which was great, but we ultimately decided on this carrier because of the two door option. I must say, this was absolutely the right choice. The top door allows more light in and makes the carrier feel more open instead of a cramped little compartment. Also, the two door option allows us two different ways to put the cats in, which we have found using the top door makes life much easier (not as much struggling!). The biggest plus is that not only can a cat sit up in this carrier, both of our cats fit comfortably in it with plenty of room to move around. The cats stayed in the carrier for the majority of the trip to Minnesota, but I think that had to do with them feeling more comfortable in the carrier than out in the open car since we would leave the carrier open at home and let them explore as they wanted. I bought this carrier for only $28, which was an absolute steal in my opinion, and am waiting for the price to come down closer to $30 to buy another one since it would be nice for each cat to have her own. The only downside is that because it is so large and the cat has room to move around, it is very unsteady to carry it since the cat moves her weight back and forth from the front to the back. However, this is a very small issue that does not affect my rating of this carrier. As far as the price goes on Amazon compared to other stores (PetSmart, PetCo, Walmart, etc.) it is about the same everywhere I looked, maybe a little cheaper on Amazon. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this carrier, not only for cats but for smaller dogs as well. Even at $36, it is still a good deal. UPDATE: Since I've had some comments about having two cats in one carrier, I thought I'd clarify a little in my review. The one cat was a year and a half and the other a six month old kitten who wasn't full grown yet. We only had the carrier doors closed when we were getting in and out of the car and when we were in high traffic areas. Other than that, the cats had free roam of the car and access to a litter box but chose to sleep in the carrier together most of the time. Once our kitten had reached adult size, we bought another one of these carriers and currently use both when traveling or taking the cats to the vet. We could probably manage to use one carrier for both cats when making short trips, the vet's office for example, but the carrier can get quite heavy and hard to carry with two cats inside.

I like that this crate opens from the top and front. It was easy to assemble. It comes in various colors, I didn’t realize that until after I ordered a blue one for my dachshund puppies, that’s ok. I’m giving it 4 stars because the top doesn’t stay propped opened, so when I’d get one puppy out, the door fell hitting the other puppy in the head. She was afraid to get in it after that, understandably so. It could be improved by having the top door lay flat on top of the crate. Also, when you pinch the levers together to open both doors and release them, make sure the bars go through the holes and catch because if they don’t, and you pick it up by the handle, the door flies open and the crate drops sideways With my other crate I can remove the door altogether so the dogs can come and go as they wish. These aren’t removable. For the price it’s a decent crate but there could be improvements with the doors, as mentioned.

The Petmate Dog Crate is well-made and sturdy. I love that it was affordable and easy to set up. The top is secured to the bottom with screws. It opens on top and is secured with metal squeeze latches. I use it when I clean a guinea pig cage and put some veggies inside. It is fine for my needs, but for trips, evacuations, and two guinea pigs, I would suggest the next size up. The only downside was that the labels did not come off easily. I used a hairdryer, packing tape, and olive oil. I do recommend this carrier for a single guinea pig.

Very well made and innovative design! Haven't had to try it to see if KitKat will prefer the top loading, but fingers are crossed.

Une boîte de bonne taille mais la qualité pourrait être meilleure pour le prix. Arrivé sans manette de carrure, si mauvais contrôle de qualité, aucune excuse pour cela. Amazon n'a pas pu obtenir une poignée de remplacement, donc j'ai proposé une solution alternative que j'ai acceptée. J'aurais été 4 ou peut-être 5 étoiles, perdu en raison d'un contrôle de mauvaise qualité et la boîte elle-même juste pour le prix. D'accord, j'espère que ces problèmes ne se produisent pas souvent.

I wanted a large, hard sided crate-style carrier to take my cats together to their vet appointments (they're litter mates so they go for their routine appointments at the same time) that they would feel more secure in than a soft sided carrier. This fit the bill nicely! I haven't taken them to the vet in it yet (their next appointment is later this week) but I've practiced putting them in the carrier and carrying them around my apartment in it and they don't seem to get as stressed out or make as many desperate efforts to get out as they have done with their soft-sided carrier. I have high hopes that future trips to the vet, though they won't be stress free, they could be a little less rough on them. The carrier was not too hard to assemble (other than that one of the holes was not neatly drilled to the right size, but I was able to force it through by hammering it in). It's sturdy and the doors are both secure and open and close smoothly. I haven't had to clean it out yet, but it seems like it would be easy to clean up any messes inside thanks to the top-opening door. Happy with this purchase so far.

sehr gute Verarbeitung wie von Petmate gewohnt, die Lösung mit der Tür auf der Oberseite ist sehr gut verwirklicht, sehr stabil und sehr einfach zu bedienen, bei anderen Kennels mit solch einer Tür lassen sich die Verschlussclips oft nur schwer bedienen und sobald das transportierte Tier etwas schwerer ist biegt sich alles auseinander, ist hier nicht der Fall. Auch die Fronttür ist sehr leicht bedienbar, da klemmt nix. Der Kennel ist voll verschraubt, was ihn sehr stabil macht, aber leider auch ein Auseinandernehmen beim Tierarzt unmöglich. Trotz der stabilen Bauweise ist der Kennel leicht, hält aber trotzdem was aus. Kleine Minuspunkte sind, dass die Tür oben größer sein könnte und insgesamt Platz im Innenraum verschenkt wurde durch die etwas merkwürdige Form und die Aufsatzflächen der 2 Hälften, die verschraubt werden. Ich wollte den Kennel eigentlich für 2 Katzen, dafür ist er aber eigentlich zu klein, die angegebenen Maße täuschen da.
