Is the negative converted to a positive in the machine, or is thatdone in the software after scanning?

Can you please tell me if the scan captures the full frame, no internal cropping? (I realize a slide itself slightly crops the negative's full frame.

Hi SoBe , You want to scan Panoramic film or want cut by yourself. If you want to scan Panoramic film , need special holder. need purchase it. If you just want cut by yourself, you can scan by custome ( scanner have 4 button , negative , Slide and Custom) Custom will scan full frame, and you can select area save. And software can save setting, next time will auto cut the area. Plustek

I have 40mm x 40mm slides. Plustek told me this is the machine I need. Does it come with the tray/holder for that size of slides?

The holder is for 2 inch x 2 inch (outside dimension) slides. That is 50.8 x 50.8 mm. I don't think the holder will grab 40 x 40 mm. Then scanning window is about 37mm x 25 mm so that might be OK, but I don't think the slides will be held well enough to work. You maybe could set the slides over the window and somehow tape them in place but it would be time consuming and tricky. The unit also comes with a film strip tray (for 35 mm negative film strips) but I think that would be even harder to make work.

Can the scanner work with Wiindows 11.
