These are really strong magnets. I don’t know what they are typically used for, but I imagine that they have a million and one uses. They come well packaged in a Styrofoam enclosure, and they have a plastic disc in between each magnet as shown in the photos. The disc is important because without it, pulling them apart is quite difficult. In fact, the only practical way to detach them is to slide them off because trying to pull them apart is almost impossible. The shiny nickel-finish gives the impression that the magnets are made of solid metal and nearly indestructible, but they’re not. My son accidentally dropped one off the dining table, and it broke in half. That’s not a knock on the magnet, just a reminder that they can break if dropped. One of the things I wanted to do with these is attach a couple of accessories to the overhead console in my truck. I taped one magnet to the accessory, and then taped another magnet to the inside of the console. It’s like magic! The accessories can be removed for cleaning or any other reason, and there is no residue of any kind on the surface of the console. It’s clean and sharp-looking installation.

These are great strong magnets. I ordered a pack of 10. 10 came, and 8 are very strong and work as intended. 1 of the 8 came slightly chipped but still strong and usable. 2 magnets are significantly weaker than the others. They aren't completely useless, however, as I've found them to be a great fidget toy. 4/5 stars since technically only 8/10 work well.

One came broken. They are quite strong and the adhesive pads are good.

These ten magnets came very well packaged it a small box within some styrofoam holder. Each magnet has a plastic ring between them. I didn't see any damage to these magnets in their present attached state. I used a very thin nylon spatula, which I forced between them to separate each one from the other. I only removed 3 of them, and left the other 7 together for future use. I was pleasantly surprised to see how solid they are. I placed 2 within 5-6 inches of each other, and they are so magnetic that they rejoined the other in a second, and making a loud sound as they hit each other. I have since dropped one on my metal stove shelf from a foot away, and dropped another on the floor, and all have survived without damage. They are about the size of an American half dollar and are a bright mercury silver. The only problem are the stickers, I used one provided sticker to hold an 8 inch chef knife, but it detached from my cabinet wall after a few hours. I solved the problem by re-sticking the adhesive sticker disc and the magnet to the wood, and then covered it with a piece of clear shipping tape over the magnet. It is easier to slide them from one another while using a nylon or plastic spatula to pry them loose. They will not pull apart without sliding them onto the spatula first. If you use them on a flat surface like a refrigerator or stove then they are a little easier to move about, but still need some effort to detach them. I avoided buying the rectangular ones because I thought that they would break more easily because of their thinness on the length. If you only need a small powerful magnet then I recommend trying the disc ones. These should be kept away from children. They are projectile near each other, and any magnetic metal surface.

I saw some reviews about how these things are crazy strong and there is absolutely no lie in that. I had managed to pry one free from the bunch and was just seeing how well it picked up on other metal objects. As I was putting it back, I kept the plastic ring between it and the others and the thing still managed to pinch my fingers. The other thing I've noticed while testing them out is that with metal objects, they will snap to anything metal but as in terms of actual 'holding' power, they could handle holding a small 3lb weight and do so off the ground (It was a weighted jump rope handle for context). Anything larger than that, don't expect it to hold on to, at least not by itself. A stack of 15 could hold a 10lb dumb bell off the ground with ease. NOW, as for hanging onto things, the smooth metal design is a big fault here. I a pair of scissors on one disk and with a gentle flick of my wrist, shook the scissors off (don't try that at home unless you're crazy like me.) Just ask why you need these magnets. If you want them on your fridge, these are too strong. If you want these holding tools, they can do that so long as the tools aren't too heavy. If you need them for something crazy like I do (Costuming) then....well use your best judgement based on what this review and others have
