The Holy Bible: King James Version Mass Market Paperback – August 31, 1991

For Gibbon-thumping Milton fans like myself, it's troubling to have to experience the poetic majesty of the King James Bible through some sorrily-printed Zondorvan or Nelson edition, especially as it is likely to be larded with commentary of the most dubious (considered archaeologically or theologically) nature. There's always "The Bible Designed to Be Read as Living Literature," but who wants to be cheated by abridgment (to say nothing of RSV substitutions)? This lovely Ivy Books paperback is the perfect answer to this dilemma. Its virtue is to present the KJV in a readable format, sans additions of any kind, with a majestic veined-granite cover. It places the Bible as a book among other books, without making it humble. A comfort in the hands and easy on the eyes, this edition allows the majesty of this Renaissance cathedral of Words to speak to the reader with all the billowing grandeur of its majestic style and substance. Nor would it seem cheaply out of place in a place of worship. Whether one seeks literary or divine intoxication, this edition is worthy of one's affection.

The most important thing to know about this particular Bible is that it is printed with a fine print which is difficult to read. Otherwise, this is King James Version Bible which is the best translation available. I recommend American Bible Society website at bibles.com where you can order a large print Bible. Also, you can read the Bible from internet on your computer at familyradio.com I'm not able to do this on my mobile phone. The browser will not allow it.

The book looks like approximately 10 pt print size. It is a paperback book with, I believe, a gloss cover. I am going to keep this bible in my living area.

This was literally the best investment I could have ever made. Not only did I learn a lot about God and his redemptive plan for humanity and those that seek him, but I learned a lot about myself and just how fallen from grace I truly was. God truly is good!

Almost anyone would want the traditional cover for a bible. The bible I was sent have a turquoise and black color and Holy Bible was at the very top of the bible. Unlike the bible I recieved. I should send it back but don't want the hassle. I think I will not buy anything else through amazon

I have 42 translations of the Bible and realized that I do not have a King James Version. My only complaint is that it is not in giant print, but I knew that and still ordered it. I am impressed with this product.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my grandmother because it looked like the same bible she bought me for my first bible. The description was for a New King James Version however, as you can see in the pictures it is clearly a Catholic version. I have zero issues with different denominations but, I did not receive the item I purchased nor was described and now have to show up to our family gathering with nothing more than a simple explanation than ”the wrong item was shipped”. I hope no one else is subject to this foley.

Outstanding value. Well bound, large print, great pictures, the full bible text well laid out , and certainly not just for children. I have used these in group Bible studies for years, and all the adults loved them.
