🎵 Elevate Your Banjo Game with Aquila Strings!
The Aquila New Nylgut AQ-2B Banjo Light Tension DBGDG Set of 5 features innovative Nylgut strings that outperform traditional nylon and PVDF options. Designed for optimal player feel and a sweet tone reminiscent of gut strings, these moisture-resistant strings ensure tuning stability and precise fret-intonation, while the Red Series 4th string delivers a brighter sound without changing the gauge.

Nice mellow sound and easier on the fingers.
Depending on your banjo, you might need to add beads at the bridge ends. If you do need to add beads, they need to be large enough to not pass though the string hole, and the beads need to have a hole in them that you can pass the string through two or three times. Just hooking these strings through the metal tabs on some banjos will result in the strings snapping off in the tab when you tune up. There’s probably a better way to do it, but that works for me.

Okay-ish
Bought them because I had heard good things about them. I did not like them very much, however. I ended up replacing the first, second, and fifth strings with standard Diadarrio strings. The drone string would "squeek" with the nylon, and the high strings did not ring as warmly or as clearly as I wanted. There seemed to be empty space between notes. The 4th and 5th are a bit muted and plunky and I'll probably change them too, but I like the mixture of tones at the moment - mellow on the low end and bright and clear in the high.

They break and would be better with a loop end.
They broke, both packets. Highly disappointed.

Mis-Ship?
This is not a product review. Just a comment on what I received. For some reason, I expected to receive a single package of Aquila Nylgut banjo strings. Instead, I received five packages of Aquila Nylgut strings: two packages of banjo strings of different gauges and three packages of Nylgut ukulele strings. The ukulele string packages were sandwiched between the two banjo string packages. So that was odd. I can't imagine why the two different kinds of strings were bundled together like that.Anyway, I got more than I thought I was getting, so it worked out.

No more dusty banjo!
I love these strings! I have always enjoyed playing banjo but have never played on a regular basis. After changing to Nylgut strings, I now play everyday. They just sound that good! It’s how a banjo should sound, in my humble opinion, though there is still plenty of reasons to keep a steel string banjo going. But for my money, I am sold on Nylgut strings.
