Disappointed
I'm more than a little disappointed.PROS:-a few tempting recipe ideasCONS:-approximately half of this very short book is devoted to comparing Nesco, Excalibur, and Presto dehydrators. But not subtle differences. Obvious things like Presto stacks and Excalibur is a cabinet model. Consider thermostats and/or timers. If you have spent 20 minutes researching dehydrators, you probably know all this.-I was misled by the title. There is no specific information relative to how to get the most our of your chosen model.-Vague recipe directions. I haven't tried all or even most of the recipes, but of the few I have tried or considered I have discovered missing ingredients (referred to in the directions, but not on the list of ingredients) and unclear directions (e.g.; a banana raisin cookie is prepared in the food processor until "a paste forms", then dehydrating temps and times are given. Do I make this like a leather? Cookie? How thin to spread? Do I use a mesh or parchment? Common sense tell me not to put it directly on the basic racks.)

Mixed feelings on this one...
This is so hard to review. The book itself is just no fun. All black and white on cheap paper and no pictures. I love a good cookbook and this one feels so.... cheap. The first 40 pages are wasted on dehydrator basics and is so poorly compiled that it is a waste to have it included. You either already know all of that or it will be no help explaining anything. It's that bad. But, the recipes sound so stinking good. I eat pretty healthy, lower carb, mostly plant based, clean and gluten free. It is such a challenge finding variety in snacks... and it's far too expensive to buy pre-packaged foods. This might not be to everyone's taste, but it is so perfectly aligned with how I eat. There are lots of fun ideas like banana crepes and a variety of crackers. As far as I can tell at this point, it is all snack food. Nothing that has to be re-hydrated and cooked or mixed with additional ingredients. I was really disappointed with it at first and wanted to send it back but it all sounds so good I just have to keep it.

Maybe the book should have been named "The Advanced Dehydrator Cookbook."
While the book may actually be a fantastic resource, I am new to dehydrating and need a book for beginners. Because of that I can't appreciate the material included here at all. This book does not contain the most basic recipes, only a vague walk-through for fruits, vegetables and meat. As a less important matter (but still a standard element in cookbooks) there is no recipe index or glossary.I mean no disrespect to the author. As I said, I bought this book as a beginner and am not informed enough to be able to appreciate the recipes here.

A must have..
What a great book I have had a dehydrator for many years but just got a new one and thought a book would be a great idea. This book is put together well. Very easy to find what you need to look up. This is a must have...

a bit of a funny one this in the way it is set out
a bit of a funny one this in the way it is set out, more recipes on dehydrated foods and basic 'how to.' Depends on what you want out of it for it really to be 5 stars.

Meagre content
Not much book for the money and I was borderline on sending it back for refund. Couple of reasonable recipes but nothing special.

The Complete Food Dehydrator Cookbook
Excellent little book...well written, clear, easy to understand...and some great recipes some which appeal to omnivores and others to vegans and some to both. I will be trying as many of them as I can...Highly recommended.A warning...this book has no pictures so don't be disappointed about that. For me that was not a problem but others may mark this book down as a result...
