Matchmoving: The Invisible Art of Camera Tracking 2nd Edition

The product description was a little vague about which matchmove programs are discussed and used as illustrations. If you are new to matchmoving or thinking about it, you have probably done some checking around on the software products that are out there. Rest assured that SynthEyes (a more popular program) is discussed and used in many illustrations. Other programs are discussed as well. This book is not easy reading. It is a serious technical book that explains how these programs work and why they fail and how to fix or avoid matchmove failures.

Match moving is the keystone to create the best illusions in moving picture, and it is almost not recognized outside the VFX community. This book is not for the enthusiast, is for the PRO. And no matter how many books you read, the only way to master match moving is doing actual matching with real world footage.

An interesting easy read, but a little repetitive at points where he states the same information in different paragraphs.Not worth $50

It was an amazing and exiting journey.

I totally recommend the book.There is a lot of tutorials online, but the book, being software agnostic, really gets into what's matchmoving. Not just button pushing. Chapter 10 : troubleshooting... really useful. No other ressource like that online. I would just like a longer chapter on StereoTracking.

Ho comprato la prima edizione molti anni fa ed è subito divenuta la mia "bibbia" del matchmoving. La seconda edizione è integrata con capitoli sulla stereoscopia molto istruttivi. Per una comprensione completa dei procedimenti alla base del matchmoving questo è il libro da comprare. L'unica pecca secondo me è che i programmi usati nei tutorial non sono proprio i più diffusi/aggiornati (ma forse si tratta solo di preferenze e abitudini personali)... Speriamo in una terza edizione.I bought the first edition and found it a real "bible" for matchmoving theory and explanation. The second edition comes revamped with informative stereo workflow chapters. For a complete understanding of the matchmoving process is the "go-for" book. The only let-down with this second edition is that the tracking/matchmoving program used in the exercises are (in my personal opinion) a bit not so mainstream (I hoped for more PFTrack or 3DEquilizer tutorials)... Maybe in the third edition....

the book explains everything perfectly. The give the info necessary to develop your skills with any matchmoving software.

the best tracking and matchmoving how to out there!! covers the foundation n then some. you'd be a master matcove artiat by the end of this book.
