Q: What is the diameter of this light ?

The overall diameter is 3" . The height is 1.25". One word of caution, the mounting base diameter is 2.6" and the wires exit the bottom of this base 1/8" in from the outside edge. So there will need to be a hole in your deck at this location to feed the wires thru with not much room for error. Getting a good seal will be tricky. One of the mounting screws is only 1/2" from the wires so don't make the hole for the wires too big. It will work if you're careful about the placement and alignment but they could have had the wires exit the base to the inside so you could move it around some. Good luck, and tight lines.

Q: Is this light uscg-approved?

Yes, it is compliant. It seems to be a nice light, however, the power wires come out of the bottom mounting surface close to the outside edge and within an 1/8" of a mounting hole making locating the light, wire access hole and mounting screws locations very precise. NO wiggle room.
