Is this lens compatible with Nikon z50

Yes, it is compatible with all the Nikon Z series bodies. It’s the most wonderful lens, and I’ve combined it with the Nikkor Z Teleconverter to give 140-400mm range. I’m delighted with the results which are tack sharp

Better than a Sony GM equivalent?

this lens as a 2.8 is a good smooth lens to use though may be considered expensive. its light and easy to carry. although Sony are good i feel the Nikkor lens offers more to the photographer.
