GIFTABLE indeed- this package verges on being nearly miniaturized. Consider it "kid-sized". The tub itself is relatively small; two cups of sushi rice overwhelm it's purpose. I find my larger hangiri more practical; but then I have use of strong male adult hands. Your use may vary.More troubling is the copper-colored banding on such hangiri- an impractical plastic gesture. No copper strength is implied; some cheap hangiri as this even use steel pins as a binding: utter anathema to Japanese cuisine esthetics, and the purposes of wooden hangiri. For Shame!Seemingly more practical are the various bamboo shamoji rice paddles, roll-servers, chopstick holders, etc., in this collection. These are a sheer delight for a chef to ponder. But the sad truth is: Somehow I have yet to understand the esthetic sanitary use of small bamboo pieces to host formal Japanese platings!Do we paint these in acrylic?Do we go vegan, and abandon stain risks of more savory seafoods?Do we allow Fukushima radiation to purify them?OR simply burn these after use?May Time Tell All!!!

i just recieved my order, i opended and found a serving square plate damaged.. i dont want to return my order..but let you know please be more carefull when packing and put everithing together.

05.22.2012:This was my first purchase when I decided to make an attempt at homemade sushi. I can't speak for the quality as compared to other sets out there, but I can say for my endeavors it is working really well. The sushi rollers are nice, and don't seem to be showing any signs of wear and tear, yet. The beautiful serving dishes that comes with the set make for nice presentation of my finished product. The set is lovely, even if my rolls aren't yet worthy of being in their presence. For my purposes, I believe this will be the only set I will ever need. I doubt I will ever be a sushi chef, though - more a sushi hobbyist.08.22.2013:Update on this review - everything included in this set is still being used and hasn't needed to be replaced. We've used it a total of maybe twelve times and are really pleased by the quality and how well everything is holding up. Good fresh fish is hard to come by in the desert, however, we still reach for this set whenever we come upon a deal and a hankering for our own fresh sushi. I still recommend this product.

Great buy. It not like the expensive Sushi rice tubs like the pros use, But after seasoning the tub for a couple hours with Rice Vinegar and water, I made a fantastic Sushi dinner. I used it a couple times now. It's sturdy and works great for cooling and seasoning sushi rice. I love all the extras that came with it too. Shipping was quite speedy.

I saw quite a few reviews where the customer complained about not getting all 19 pieces advertised. I did, but now wish I'd bought a smaller set. The side of the package states 'Sushi Accessories - 19 pc' and counting the rice tub it did include 19. Four small round bowls approx 2 inch across (that I'll likely never use due to their small size), four small square bowls approx 2 inch across (that I'll likely never use due to their small size), four split bamboo sushi trays approx 2 inch across (that I'll likely never use due to their small size), two small spoons the hold approx 1/4 tsp (that I'll likely never use due to their small size)...seeing a pattern here? Things I will use in this set - the two rice paddles, the two sushi mats, and the rice tub. Everything else looks like it would be better used at a child's tea party. Save yourself some money and buy items you'll actually use.

The only problem I had with the product is that one of the square plating actually came snapped in half ( assuming since its thin). Wasn't much of a problem since i'm serving myself, but still not pleasant having an odd number of one plating and a proper number of the other plating.

I really like the bowl. Paddles and mats... the other items have continued to go unused. I’m not even sure what some of them are for.

Generally is a good buy, but one of the small wooden dishes was broken and another one was chipped. Also the big spons to mix the rice are too small. And the “cooper” rings are not cooper, they are made out of plastic.Still a good buy, but the quality of it is not amazing, not because the material, because they don’t pay enough attention to details.
